My Ideas
I've got a lot of ideas about the modding (mostly RPG), but I can't make these.
I'd like to call this mod with a map to mau5ville.
There are some of my idea:
1. Login system - It's very frustrating, when you play 2-3 hours on an RPG server (for example on the Cozmo's RPG), and when you disconnect, your progress losts.
2. Mining - I could make it, only need help to put the skill to the multiplayer.
3. Conversations with NPCs - I'd like to make a market, where you can buy or sell some equipment (ores, armors, weapons, clothes)
4. Special Zones, where the most weapon don't work
5. Crafting or Smelting - Make weapons with a hammer or furnace.

I remember FLCity (was that the name of that project?) had a login system...
Don't know what happened to it
No weapon zones are simple... If you can make mining (whatever you mean by that) you should be able to do that too?

I tried to find that FLCity, but i can't find.
About the mining, I made some rock with ores and a pickaxe. If you hit enought time the rock with the pickaxe, it breaks and drops the ore. After a certain, if respawns. THe only problem is the hitpoints of the rock. After the respawning, it becomes undestroyable.

FLCity had died off, the project was officially closed no?
EDIT: About mining, mate, try looking for MSMTL thing, it had mining I think. You could learn or do something with it.

Thanks for the tip. I checked it. There are ores, metals and anvils, but there aren't rocks. I try to edit some of it's code and put it to my package.

Yeah, but first talk to the author of the modification mate, His name is WCCC. He's around XFIRE. I'll probably talk to him about you experimenting though.
Respawn? Well there's only weapons like LAW that disappears and reappears later, other than that, every weapon is a holder-sort thing that you frob and you get a copy of it. I don't really quite get you.
Oh and about weapon zones, it's pretty basic stuff, check out DarkForce mod, or DF_MALL for that matter, some basic RPG stuff for god-zoning and all. You could however create a custom zone where players are godded and you can't equip weapons.

I think if a server can record your IP it can also record your progress, at least for a while.. A similar command could be created..? Something that records IP but doesn't ban? I might be talking bs so feel free to ignore:D I also remember a sort of login system on classic RPGCity, it was a weird addon, I'd ask Kai/Anna if anyone still knows them here..

It's not difficult to store data on an INI.
I'd like to point you folks out that Cozmo on PURPOSELY decided not to create something which SAVES PROGRESS. He wanted his RPG to be like any other RPG, but with more experience and quality. Due to his previous MMCity experience, he decided not to go with saving progress because when you're done, there's nothing to do. It's better if the progress restarts.

This x 100, If Cozmo RPG had a save system it would get tired pretty quick. It's all about building up from scratch every time you play, this route to success can be achieved by taking different routes each time you connect, I would personally dislike starting off with thousands of credits, the fun is to build your character up from nothing in my opinion.~DJ~ wrote:It's not difficult to store data on an INI.
