For security reasons I can not tell you how it works, (perhaps by pm I can), but Poor has already made a fix which was tested on Hengsha and it works brilliantly, it's very clever, doesn't just prevent spam but it "backfires" on the spammer.

All we need is for that coding to be a stand-alone mutator, separate from the mod. It will prevent spamming permanently, once the player is flagged, but eventually spammers will find new tricks besides spamming. Maybe someone like Cozzie could look at the hengsharpg.u and see the code. I think the reason Poor didn't release it, is simply because he is busy/absent.

When spamming is fixed, the trolls will find new tricks, I hope less annoying.

Proxy-users, I can think of 2 or 3 not on your list.

If knowing how it works somehow renders the fix useless then I'd say the fix it pretty useless...

Wait... can we just modify the kick command to where it kicks and makes them type "debug eatmem".. I think after that, he won't mess with people.

It works whether people know about it's presence or not, but it has the added bonus of keeping the spammer preoccupied, meaning they will carry on spamming instead of doing other stuff. Of course if that is public knowledge, then the spammer will already stop spamming and invent new trouble instead of spamming.

Make us worse ? It SURE would slow down the spammer.... Think about it, What other way can we fix this solution?

I am agreeing with DJ when he said bad people deserver bad things to happen to them.. lol we can't just let spammers continue
to do this?? And also, why is everyone continuing to say "Advban works with people who have dynamic IP"? I do not think it works,
I used a month back on my server on a spammer and he was back in 3 seconds.

This is brad. Adv ban (idk why its called that) is not helpful here, why does it let the player connect for a second or two anyway? the guy just spams like mad and reconnects repeatedly. Last time (like a few months ago or whenever he was at it before) i just repeatedly range banned him until he got bored. Nowadays the admins aren't in the server 24/7 (which is understandable given the online popularity of this game, but we do what we can) so we just have to wait until he gets bored and stops like last time. The playervotemute thing is silly and wont work, firstly he'll just reconnect/change IP whatever, and secondly, people will mute anyone that they dislike, spammer or not.

Mute suffers from exact same problems as kick or ban, and there is nothing wrong with the feature if it can be enforced the same way a more reliable ban feature would be. Since a game *needs* a reliable ban method, mute function *will* work as well, once someone figures out how to properly code the former.

I don't see an issue about players muting anyone they dislike, thats the idea; completely different matter is implementing a Vote Kick or even Vote Ban option, in which case skilled players start getting kicked by noobs or clan members start ganging up on rivals they outnumber in public servers.

I am really tired of the spammer lately. Something needs to be done because it's really super annoying.

After a drink, it becomes much clearer.

1. Video the guy and get all unbreakable proof of prolonged and sustained abuse against the community.
2. You present this to the relevant authority. They say or do nothing.
3. As appropriate adult in the community, you remove the guy to keep other younger members safe from the abuse.
4. If FBI and Brad's mother come knocking on the door, put your hands up and say yes I did it, I'm proud I did it and this is why I did it and here are 150 electronic signatures from users supporting my action, here is their petition. I was suffering abuse and I was not in my right mind when I removed him from the community.

I would have a community vote on removing him, legally of course. The result is pretty obvious.

Modify the chat so that an admin has to authorize someone to speak. Add a personal message feature in case someone HAS to talk, make it so the PM feature only lets X number of messages per X number of time. Also putting commands into the advban doesn't work. I tried it. Debug Eatmem, exit, quit etc.

Edit: Also even though he's adv. banned, he can still come back in.
