Scrims

Post by synthetic »

Because clan war challenge seems to be lagging behind, I propose we just get over ourselves and play some scrims in passworded servers. Mixed teams or clan teams, we decide on the spot, latter probably is more interesting for both sides. We take screens and play serious and have fun, but won't count as clan war. Amount of those that can be played is limitless, and can eventually span several game types.

Add me on msn for details: dx.ebasurnu@gmail.com ; or drop by our forums to give us a shout or PM me. I'll be keeping an eye on all channels here and there, but prefer instant messaging or nothing gets done. Just dx, no bs.

Been meaning to register on HM, will do.

I played with around 6 HM members today, I've only seen Whiplash this weekend.

I've been on a lot recently, actually (too embarrassed to use my normal name after seeing "COZMO WITH BOWEN WEAPONS SERVER").

Some Hivemind scrims would be fantastic; the quality of this game recently has been metabolic end product. Over the last couple of weeks I was only lucky enough to have one decent game against an equally bored Ricci. Otherwise it just seems to be GODZ_Sniperbox 1v1s over and over.

Wtf, where'd you find Ricci? He is like Waldo these days :alc:

Lets put some date in place guys, and just play serious games *no matter* how many show up. We balance teams on the spot. I had several 2 vs 2 scrims with my clan in 2008 and it was great fun even with that amount of players. It gives the game some kind of purpose to try and play tactically and count minutes, as opposed to just leaving half a map through because you just cant be assed with the boring match.

I tried public DM today but very few maps if any properly support 10+ players in DM, with ~ 5 players it is actually still quite fun, so those are an option, too.

Even when we do clan vs clan scrim we can probably highlight both teams equally in different regards, I can maybe write some kind of articles to cover the events.

Just to let you know, I've been told it is a condition of membership that we wear the tag when playing in server, even if the name isn't correct. I'm not saying that's good or bad, but just what I was told.

Judging from Shadowrunner's post on our forums, it would appear that the concept of the scrims that I am proposing deserves a bit of clarification still.

Clan Wars are played primarily to pit the strength of the involved clans against one another, with the results determining the ranking order within the community hierarchy of clans. It is without a doubt the pinnacle of clan activity and events, with various clan ladders representing an extended, more thorough, and potentially beneficial variant of this type of challenge.

Scrimmage or Scrim is a quickly set up challenge where players take their current form and available members and play a fake clan war vs another clan, or against a portion of their own clan, and the results will not count in the clan ranking, clan war scores, and do not prove anything more than the fact that you just had an exciting game regardless of whether you came out as a winner or a looser.

Quite frankly, I am somewhat dumbfounded that this rather obvious and widely known difference between these two challenge types still creates confusion.

Question you have to ask yourself is whether or not you want to play matches in this game, and whether or not you can get 2 or 3 or 4 or bloody 20 players to play at the same time, and with the intent of actually playing instead of adventuring around the map or searching for leaks in the smuggler ventilation shafts.

Saturday 4PM UK time
(5PM German, Polish, NL time, our website has clock if you have to check)

Server: deusex://109.70.149.166:7790?password=
Password: will be given to FGS representative
Gametype: Classic 0augs with Gas and Turrets enabled; can remove upon timely request
Maps: Voted in the beginning of the match and every match
Conditions: at least 2 maps are played, 3rd is played in case of a draw or for fun, after that password is disabled
Players: 4 per team is preferred, but 2 and upwards is playable and fun

Misc: all players who want to play competitive matches should feel free to try their skills. Changing scrim into all-out Death Match or playing with mixed teams are both viable possibilities in case normal clan vs clan scrim comes out poorly or is otherwise undesirable.

This is the suggested date for those of you who like playing 0augs and want to have an exciting game.
If nobody attends, our clan might hold private scrim between our guys regardless, or just play public games.

You're talking about training matches I guess.

It's Easter, so not sure if I'm seeing my family or not on the Saturday, but I'm up to spectate or play.
4pm is a busy time in the UK maybe, shops are open and people have days off but we don't want to play so late that Khaam is drunk :D

Our members have confirmed that small scrim should be possible on Sat 4PM, if its later then me and another member already cant play. And, indeed, couple guys are preparing for easters and won't be available. Since we only need 2-3 people from each clan for nice scrim, I think we can handle it?
