Computers established over 40 years ago that life exists, but that it doesn't come near earth any more than every 10,000 years.

It's nice to believe in aliens, but that is dangerous too. We think of aliens being humanoid, bipedal creatures with eyes that have hands or limbs like other animals on earth and that they will be friendly and help us correct the huge damage we have done here.
Very dangerous thinking.

Better to think we are alone and need to figure out our survival fast. We shouldn't worry about alien invasion, what will kill everything on the planet is most likely to be human or computer.

I believe the whole lightspeed thing is not going to be an issue. People will travel using the spirit world and altered states, drugs, something like that. We will meet the "aliens" in other ways, they won't have spaceships, probably not even bodies and they will communicate by thought. The only thing they will have in common with us, is energy. Oh and they are already here. Where from? I'll go with Orion or Pleiades. Procyon 55 A/B is probably where humans will first settle too.

I don't dispute there will be a few bugs, worms and nasty creatures out there, but the aliens we seek are more like entities...

I think what Shadow is saying, is a rather long winded version of: Get the *love* back on topic you nubs.
