He is a cult classic indeed. His first hit, Are Friends Electric, dates back to 1979; a time when Johnny and the Self Abusers had evolved into Simple Minds and Dirk wore white sox.

For me, I Die You Die represents Numan at his very best.

Simple Minds was the first band I mentioned when I came to gravity-world.com.

Everyone knows them as a large stadium-rock band, but in fact in the early 80's they were early synth new-wavers, making music in Germany long before anyone heard on them on the radio in the UK. Their very earliest music was ahead of time I think and I didn't hear anything else like it until the 90's.

New Gold Dream brings back memories of their early stuff for me. I think they performed some tracks (inc. the title track) from this album at their "Live in the City of Light" concert in 1986.

Usura's dance hit "Open Your Mind" from the early 90s was based on New Gold Dream.
