[17] clan v [S]

I received a warning e-mail from [S]Face... goes something like this...

Cat from Clan 17 stole some source code of [S]Face from a Private Messaging mod that he never released (it was on his server when he was testing Command Post). She basically decached it, changed a couple of comments and released it as her own work. She even had the cheek to protect it so nobody could see the source. What she didn't count on is that certain elements of code (function names, variables names etc) were still present in the protected .u file so Face could prove authorship. She gave the source code to someone else and he was able to ask them to look for certain elements of [S] code in "her" code, and everything was there.

a cut and paste job.

Since that happened, Face tried to join the Clan 17 forums, his account was deleted. Then he made another account and now someone has changed the password and email address.

Brother Spaz, Brother Face, fear not... [FGS] is a bs free zone. The word server ban springs to mind. I've never heard of Cat, not to be confused with [A]Cataclyzm.

I created the clan 17 forums, I also own the www.clan-17.co.uk sub-domain.
I look what they say about this now. Il also speak to their leader (Kai) when possible.

Face reminded me of this also. [17] used the single player map 71_Canyon and called it theirs too, I believe.

71_Canyon is from a SP mod made by a player. In the original map, it contains a parachute ride, a cable car and a log cabin, some of you might know it. I played this mission and without a doubt it is the same map. I was very surprised and I challenged 17 about this and got no answer from anyone in server.

It is from an obscure mod, not many of you would have recognised the map, but I was once tasked with archiving every SP mod by GODZ and so I know pretty well most of the SP mods...

Banning them from servers would be pointless as they only enter their own.

well she isnt gonna oplogize. She came on MSN and said:

i cant join your rpg server (id banned her).

i said: i think you owe an opology to Face.

she said: k im sorry.

im not the one you should be opologizing to.

The topic about it also got erased from [DXA] forums.
What p*sses me off is people spend countless hours on their mods.
and then someone like her comes along.

and nope they dont just go in their own.

my server and nepthys logs show half of them love my rpg server.

so ive already banned em. Until face gets an opology.

i protect mine and release the sources to trusted people only.

I would make mine all complete open source if people like her didnt do what she did.

17 do have a rep for this. she even asked me to give her an unprotected copy of my beta rpg and the keypad2 source.

Someone told me also she dechaches all the time. She is banned from all of my servers.

I assume anything from 17 is stolen now. i cant trust anything that is "theirs". a shame how one person can embarress their whole clan.

This isn't a problem with 17, neither is it FGS or DXA's problem.

We NEVER said we made it. We just edited it for MP play.
And talking to one member and a player that isnt a member doesnt count as "challenging 17 about it"

Can't blame me for that, I'm not even admin, and until yesterday, none of the admins knew or cared about this issue!

The mod doesnt exist anymore, i removed it before the thread on DXA was removed.. If all face wants is an apology, he should talk to me about it

Pathetic. I invited you to discuss this issue with me privately when I originally posted about the incident on the DXA forums and I've not heard from you. You've shown your true colours, I'm no longer interested in what you have to say and as for you thinking that I should come and talk to you in order to get an apology... Give me a break!

Edited for MP play, oh summoning crates to block part of the map, wow awesome and original design idea...You had permission to edit this map?

Also. You never said you didnt make it either. I am a well-known mapper, telling me you didnt know that I am a mapper who admins on Factory wont cut the mustard with me. You ignored my questions in server about this map quite deliberately, because you were hoping people would think it was yours.

Just the same way you hoped people would think Face's mod was yours.

Don't dig yourself deeper, wake up and smell the coffee...

This isn't a problem with 17, neither is it FGS or DXA's problem.

It becomes your clans problem after you do something stupid under their tag. You are the tag and you represent it. If you or the members of [17] clan aren't gonna care, it just goes under your reputation and you all should well know what people are gonna think about you all.

Talking some crap like that isn't gonna help you. You will only help yourself if you talk to Face and apologize, even if it feels hard.
