I study in a vocational school (and it's the best school in this region), and we learn Business Management, Business Correspondence and Labour Law, and we will learn Programming and Hardware Knowledge in the next year
It's not boring, but the Literature and Grammar (I almost fall asleep)

Re: Facebook
that sounds better than religous studies and graphics or whatever, youngsters need to be taught about money and things important, marketing is good because these youngsters are targetted all teh time.

History is cool, if you get a girlfriend who likes a lot of sex and history channel in equal proportions, marry her.

Hope you learn better stuff then friends of mine do when it comes to webpages.[FGS]Kalman wrote:he showed us many things: how to make webpages
Honestly, if they teach you FrontPage is the best there ever was or if they teach you, you should not rely too much on your teacher.
And if he teach you, changing the color of your text by using <font> or you have to close an <img>-tag with </img> ... well ... get another teacher please.
Back in my school I got taught to use <font>. Well, for beginners this way might be the best. But this got nothing to do with good HTML. Using FrontPage or even Word for making a HTML File ... Thank goddess I've never seen someone who got thaught that. But I saw guy doing so. The HTML file sucked so bad, you shouldn't let it to an ocean fearing it's gonna be empty in a few hours.
But the worst I've seen so far is </img>.
Honestly, I know someone who went to an IT School. He got taught to close an <img> Tag with </img>. He even refused to acknoledge the fact this is just wrong/way outdated. Maybe it was valid in HTML 1, 2 or 3. But since HTML 4 it's definitly just wrong. Even in XHTML you never use that. You just use <img />.
Sure enough his HTML sources sucked. Since they didn't even learn to indent the text. Very messy, over 100 errors and frames. Wow, I realy didn't know up until then a IT School can fail at teaching basic IT stuff.
NOTE: I'm not adding all required attributes to the tags. xD

Wtf happened to all round education? Specialisation is great but AFTER a decent education in more global matters like yes, geography, history, languages (meaning literature and grammar). In Belgium we have an all round education with specialisation during high school (so everybody has history, geography, french, german, etc., but you choose if you want an accent on maths, or languages, or bussiness or whatever) and I firmly believe it's a very good system. Cause if you have your system (and no offence or something) you're in danger of creating trade idiots (don't know if this is the right term, it's a literal translation of a Dutch term) who are very good in their trade but fail horribly at life cause they miss the bigger picture. Re: Facebook
Anyone of my class will tell you that most of my teachers suck. I know what makes a good teacher, I'm a university student now and my teachers are incredible. Although they are more expensive too. I chose to specialize on economics and IT when I decided to go to high-school, but honestly, there's only one decent high-school in the entire city where I live. Maybe it's just my expectations, but Hungarian education can't be compared to Belgium's at all, what works in one place might not work in another at all. The system is right though, it's just the teachers and the lack of control that is missing back home.~[FGS]Próphèt~ wrote:Wtf happened to all round education? Re: Facebook
I've been a student and I've been a teacher, I'll be honest, a lot of teachers suck a lot. They are doing the job, because they can't get a job/income in their chosen field. In other words you are being taught by a failed professional. So you can expect a lack of professionalism and genuine expertise. A lot of teacher's are like the kids they teach in this respect or far too political and opinionated. Kids are very easy to teach in comparison to students or postgraduates. I'd say uni students and over 40's are the hardest to teach, from my experience.
