Unreal Ed 2.1 For Deus Ex
Unreal Ed 2.1 For Deus Ex
Yes, you heard right! I have managed to port UnrealEd 2.1 (Not 2.0 as thats been done, 2.1) To Deus Ex. You can build your map with textures, add unreal classes (such as lights, triggers, normal movers and playerstarts) sounds, and music files) but NOT Deus Ex Classes and Movers due to the nature of this hack. You can import and export maps and brushes. 2.1 Does NOT have the 'nothing selected' bug and fixes many other bugs unreal editor 2/1 has. You can use this to build the actual level and add your DX classes in UED1. It gives a couple of DLL errors on start-up but the main thing is that it works and you can build the most crucial part of your map with it, as UED1 does not have the best BSP/Rebuilder.
Download and extract the .RAR into your DeusEx folder so you have C:\DeusEx\UED2_1. DO NOT OVERWRITE files in your system folder or it will mess up your DX. inside UED2_1 you have all texture files, sound files, and music files that go with DX. You need to load them manually once the editor is open.
Saved maps can then be loaded in UED1 to finish off. However, play level does not work, as of yet.
Enjoy and any bugs, do mention! =)

EDIT: Thanks to the developers of the 227 patch for Ued2.1, it is not officially released by epic-games which I assumed was, sorry to you guys for not giving credit where due

Re: Unreal Ed 2.1 For Deus Ex
What advantages does this have over the ported Unreal Ed 2.0?
Apart from the nothing selected bug ofcourse, which is a good fix but something that was easy to work around if you payed attention

I find the operation is smoother in general and it has more reliability. There is not much difference from what I can see, but it is nice to give people the option to be able to use it, if they so wish.

You should mention that it's 188MB, and you can download from the site only with 50kb/s (waiting gonna kill me)
Is this that UnrealEd which came with Unreal v227g?
A small pic about the UnrealEd 2.1

Yeah it is the one which came with unreal, from 227h, it was when I was using it that I had the idea to port it over. the size is due to me adding all the DX textures and sounds and musics in the right folders, to save one copying them over, it has its own maps folder which can be moved to your standard one once the maps are complete.

Re: Unreal Ed 2.1 For Deus Ex
I can't open my previous maps with this, because it says the texture files are missing :/
But at the mover, there's an option called Mover (mesh), it's very useful, because finally I can make interpolating decos with collision

Can you upload one without the textures, sounds and music files copied over? (I have a download limit)HDD21 wrote:Yeah it is the one which came with unreal, from 227h, it was when I was using it that I had the idea to port it over. the size is due to me adding all the DX textures and sounds and musics in the right folders, to save one copying them over, it has its own maps folder which can be moved to your standard one once the maps are complete.

here you go:

please note that you will need to copy the folders into UED2_1 manually.

Re: Unreal Ed 2.1 For Deus Ex
Awesome. I used to love making my own maps for Deus Ex but don't think it's worth the effort anymore. Unreal Ed 2 for DX is far better than Ued1 imo. Good luck to everyone who's still out there making their own maps!

BTDM is the real DX.
