PvBCageMatch Dev Kit

Post by Poor »

For those of you who like PvBCageMatch, I am releasing this dev kit so anyone can create matches for it. I included a nice little GUI, so no programming or modding experience is required. Matches are quite customizable so it will be interesting to see what people do with this. When you develop a match you can send me the ini file and I'll add it to the game list. My email is in the readme. And PLEASE read the readme. It has very important information. Also, I have a few guidelines for what matches I'll accept to ensure the game stays fun:
  • Matches must have at least 3 rounds but no more than 30.
  • The match can't have more than 15 rounds without a game pause to let other people in.
  • The match must be difficult enough to provide a challenge for 2 players.
Also, please prefix the file with "PvBCM_" (ex. "PvBCM_TheGame"). Besides that, the file name doesn't matter and only the game name specified in the editor is shown to players.

I have a different question - how would one go about making custom maps for this? I understand how the dev kit seems to work (setting up the waves of adversaries) but I'm not sure how one would go about putting that on a different map.

This doesn't help people create custom maps. This only helps people make matches for my server. The actual mod isn't released yet. There are two maps for this though and I'll alternate them every now and then once I update the second.

I forgot to remove the music dependency for the test play map  . Updated and fixed. Only the CMTP.dx needs to be replaced.

Added aug rewards and included a sample match to show what a completed match looks like (see original post). Improved bots with TNAG weapons coming soon.

Poor's got me off my butt and I will get around to matches and also a map, probably some kind of training facility for special forces, to contrast with the classic historical style of Chinny's amphitheatre.

Sounds great Poor, your bots could well be something to use in the next RPG project.

This is a great idea, I could see them being used in several different ways...

That devkit was a much older version. I updated the first post with the most recent version of the match editor which includes the latest bots and inventory.

This is so brilliant, people can always get a match on DX, plus the coding is genius and it's like a total demo for DXMP too...
