Counterstrike Servers rise by 35%!!

Post by TheWolf »

Email from cp@gamedatainc.com

Dear fellow gamers and loyal customers:

We aren't happy, and we think you should be happier. We don't think that you have been receiving the quality of service from us that you deserve, and that we expect to provide. Why? Well, high-quality service is expensive. True high-quality takes more bandwidth, more powerful servers and more man-hours of support. The game-server business is super-competitive, and we have felt the pressure. We have responded by lowering our prices to the point where frankly, we are now losing money on game servers. We have also had to cram more customers on servers, provide support with less staff and discontinue upgrading our hardware. You, no doubt, have felt the effect. This must end.

We simply do not want to be in the business of selling crap. So, to improve our quality of service and stay healthy as a company, we must make a change.

***As of 12:00 AM, August 16th, 2012, GameData, Inc. will be raising our prices for all game-server products (voice-server prices will not be affected) by 35%. Example: If your monthly subscription is $20.00, it will now be $27.00. If you wish to cancel, please open a ticket and do so before your subscription renews. Repeat: Price changes will go into effect for any game-server renewal or new order that occurs after 11:59 PM, August 15th, 2012.***

Obviously, we do not look forward to the prospect of losing customers. However, we know some of you will find homes elsewhere at a lower price. We wish you the best. For those customers that stick with us, we vow to provide you with the quality of service you deserve and that we expect from ourselves. Upgrades and enhancements will be made. Value will be provided, and all will be right with the world again.

Sincerely,

Sandy Eisenbach

President - GameData, Inc.

I'm pissed about this. No instant access to the command line and charging more for game this old.

Chinny's right, if this is a monthly payment service and they are based in the UK, I think it falls short of trading standards. However I think the best that customers could hope for is to argue for a month's service at the old prices. If people have pre-paid quarterly, then definitely CS can not change the goalposts until the contract is over.

I would like to stress to those people who complained in the past about server performance, not to start complaining about Gaming Deluxe, you're just ruining it for everyone and the same thing is going to happen, GD are a much larger company now, if not one of the biggest in Europe and we are lucky that they have friends in DX and that they still bother to deal with DX, because it's not really profitable for them to do so with the amount of technical support that it requires sometimes. Yes we are customers, but I have seen people taking the urine with GD in the past over a laggy, buggy old game. Just be realistic and appreciate the service is still being offered.

People accuse GD of stuff all the time, but the truth is, it's the crap you're adding to your servers. When you don't run any packages at all, the servers are extremely smooth and good for clan wars, augs etc.

Also I recommend, if finance is an issue, then rent quarterly and it does make a considerable difference. Pool your money together.

Also I would remind people, if you want a better and cheaper service from GD, then rent a box as I suggested before.

GD sure is expensive though. They charge less for a minecraft server, despite it using far more resources than a DX server.

Apparently DX hogs more recourses than the majority of games.
