That is the original DXMP. Represented by 3 semi-active clans and one mixed clan.

Mod communities by popularity through years go as this:

0augs - hugely popular before and around the time CS, CSS, CoD, SoF, MoHAA, UrT, etc. Twindling population still exists, mostly beginners.
Altfire - loyal small fanbase and easy enough gameplay to draw other beginners in.
RPGC types - twindling but same as above.

Bowen's, SG, Funline, DXAG communities have died out.


Usually this all would be common sense, but too many people past decade have mistaken 0augs for dxmp whereas even a fool can see that altfire and tactical has new weapons from other games. It is not dxmp, it is a mod, and popular for reasons CoD and BF sell extremely well even today. Much like UT and Quake communities are still around, a game as complex as DXMP can still be played.

I encourage everybody to get acquainted with the true depth of classic dxmp before it completely dies out. In a week DXMP celebrates its 13th birthday, its never too late.
The fact that true CTDM is not hosted just speaks for the poor health of the game, the developers did a decent job balancing the game for ATDM though, and BTDM just represents a casual non-rpg experience.

True auged experience rewards player for gathering all pickups, staying out of sight at the right times (stealth), setting up traps. These are all things that top skilled augers do, not some theoretical nonsense. A beginner that only knows CSS or 0augs will unfortunately slip fast by just doing circles with his rifle and getting outgunned or outtricked. You have to move and know the map well.

Played map and a half of altfire with bubba, since that was the server I found him from. First game since 2008 in the gametype and some noob starts insulting my real life appearance the moment his score starts going negative? Fairly certain he is one of the active posters on these forums, so hello to you too.


Now, one noob doesn't matter, but its concerning that there is enough of them to encounter practically every game that takes place outside my clan server. A beginner is someone new to the game, a noob can play up to 10 years and still not understand anything thats happening around him. And right now, we have awful lot of noobs and practically no beginners. Not good.

People like that have been around forever unfortunatly, it's just something you have to deal with online, I suppose

Bit of a late reply but yeah i remember, i work up a good sweat playing augs with my buttons, think i'll switch to wads very soon though..
