The problem with the game is that there's no camaraderie left anymore. It's all become about the individual. Clans mean nothing anymore other than how good a player is. A person joins a clan for a while, gets better, then moves onto another clan. When I first started out a clan actually meant something more than a tag, but now I see members of the same clan flaming each other over nothing. You'd think that as the community got smaller the attitude of players would get better since everyone knows each other and it's easier to form relationships, but it seems like all it has done is caused more personal rivalries. The few times I've played over the past year I've noticed that people don't even say things like "ns" or "shot" anymore, instead it's people complaining about kills. If players cannot even allow this courtesy, how can people expect the game to get better especially when this kind of attitude is being handed down to newer players.
The only way I can see changing this anytime soon is if the clan system were to undergo a major overhaul to make them actually mean something again. Just think of how many clans have been started in the last year. Now think of how many clan wars have actually been fought. It would be in the best interest of the game if leaders actually began trying to make their members care about their clan and their other clanmates. It's not even that hard, just do things like required training days just so you can get your members practicing together. Or have friendly in-clan scrimmages. Not to mention trying to bring the clan war back to the level of importance it once had. If a person has pride in his clan and those people he fights beside then he will be more likely to form connections with those people. And once he starts forming connections with those people it will be easier for him to form connections with people outside his clan.
In closing, DX is for the most part a team game. Yet, nobody seems to care if their team wins or loses anymore, so long as they personally scored well. What good is that when the point of the game is to win as a team? So, people need to start thinking about the team and not the individual. Who cares if you are good at a game nobody plays? I'd say it would be much more impressive if as a collective the community could come together and resurrect a game that's for all intents and purposes dead.

I try too. Being a part of ~[E]~ isn't just wearing a tag. My goal for ~[E]~ was to create a clan that would be respected throughout the community for their sportmanship, skill and courtesy. A member has been kicked before cause he couldn't live up to that rules (we are glad though his attitude changed and he rejoined us).
However I found out that this clan is being flamed uponn (allthough never directed at me, or I've never noticed it), while we try to bring GG to everybody. ~[E]~ members will see if a team is unbalanced and will switch disregarding the loss of his score (at least I hope they do, but everytime i was in the server this happened).
But it's true what you say, DX has sunk to a depth. Now it's up to us to lift it once more!

[E] is like [RTK] it will succeed. But you guys are right, the problem is newb clans forming and running their own territory, rather than contributing to what exists. That is why I bitched alpha so much, they made war on noobs and forced some noobs to go it alone, while others like sniper etc got pats on the back. That is why I accused them of being divisive and not at all community minded. I feel this issue is relevant, because this is the situation we are left to deal with, empty AG/SG/0-aug servers, some discontent atdm players and a bunch of newbs who seem to be constantly getting accused of newb mapping and newb admin abuse.
Also I feel strongly that a council of servermasters was a good idea, and alpha again were not community minded, by boycotting/spamming Factory forums, FGS forums, and by insulting the notion of co-operation between servers.
Chris it was two or three weeks, not 2-3 days this time.
You should rename the clan in we hate Alex and friends.
No [A] member or servermaster or mapper is banned here.
No-one is banned at all on SG server at the moment.
No-one is banned on Wunderland at all by Me, Anihex or Kuchcik.
I can not say the same about [A] forums.
therefore I think you should say something more truthful.
OK I have received a request from Valgothy to host Altfire server.
This is my reply
basically I will host many servers next year...Can you guys share the cost of Wunderland server with us for three months, and we get more slots even.
Remember, getting a server is half price, if Wunderland is already rented. Even I can rent another TEN servers at half price (same as SG server), but only if Wunderland is already paid for 10 slots...
So I'm appealling on behalf of not only FGS, but the whole community. w00der's offer of ten or more servers at half price is too good. It's basically

The loss of the wonderland server would mean dx has hit the rock bottem.
I have a spare gameserver which is *loving* never used. so if FGS take down the altfire server fear not altfire players :P.
If all the altfire players left then thats dx dead. Theres not enough other ones to replace them.
Too many dickheads online spoiling everything
Compnetelly too true. It pisses me off to the max all the spawncamping etc. The DIOS and FGS are the only two decent ones that i actually like.
Its a pitty no one ever played in SG server. I loved that gametype.
others, or just truly *loving* leave and forever stfu about those who decide to stay.
Agreed with that. All the harrassment they would give you ingame on youre own in servers with them and on MSN was unreal.
They also would say metabolic end product about my family and freinds and also try banning me everywhere to
Make Him *love* off out of DXMP
No disrespect, but Dios and Brad's servers are not the greatest
Well brads server. Well today i was on there as player minding my own buisness. Hes gave like 3 random players admin. One was ghostkilling. So i asked him to turn off his ghost mode. He then Bans me.
*Reset router*
You see all this aruging and metabolic end product is what makes this game so dead.
BYE ALL Im leaving DEUS EX AND [DXA]
The ammount of cheaters has increced etc.
And trying to force players out. it KILLS THE GAME SO MUCH MORE.
Well it will be deader now schools started. I know RPG has been for sure.
Batt power low so will add to later.

Wunderland has been offline many times, it's nothing new.
It annoys me intensely that you space each sentence with a blank line. It's funny what annoys people, but that really does annoy me.

I supported ShadowRunner's idea to hold a meeting of the significant hosts, however, the idea was more effective when it was out of view of the public, to be only the knowledge of the meeting hosts, to convene perhaps on a messenger without public knowledge.
As a result of publicizing the council like this I can advise that the plan can still happen, however, there should still be a focus on putting some rumors to rest for more hosts to take the plan seriously.
Apparently a lot of people seem to be under the impression that the GameSpy MSL is going to go offline. With this rumor scrapped, more hosts will put in the effort to hold the meeting.
My recommendation would be to get more people to host, regardless of the server's playability, together for at least a few months. That way, even if the rumors are true, it's abvious that GameSpy is hesitant in their decision. Seeing a growth in servers on their list is the easiest way for them to check for a growth in the game's population.
For a game like DX, they will be too lazy to actually look into an actual census of players because they probably already noticed a continuous pattern of activity in the summer then decline in autumn.
REN has recently run a server. It looks good having more clan's hosting, it looks really good. So do what you can, if you have a clan or are in a clan, I believe every clan should have a server to its name all hosting in concert for at least 4 months to sway any decision and bust all rumors.
After all those fears are allayed for the rest of the year, then hold the conference.

I hadn't even thought about Gamespy, very good points.
I totally agree about the "invisible hand" approach. It works very well on server, to ask someone to stop doing something, and then they are very surprised when they are kicked and are sorry and dont do it again. If a person doesnt know which servers he will get banned on, he wont mess with any...
so ye, very good post!

No
1. It's a waste of bandwith
2. It's a waste of a page, it cause people to have to scroll or click on more pages than they would have.
3. It's like speaking at half the speed you should, it's tiring to other people.
4. It is a form of spam, and therefore against rules.
Can you type normally like the rest of the human race please. One sentence is not a paragraph.

Wow, a possible ~[E]~ [FGS] semi-merge to host servers. I never saw
that coming.

Also Psycho and Shinobi are discussing on [A] forums that they will share a 32 slot server. I feel if it is 0-aug, it will be empty, but a good augged server might improve on the EDH/DIOS servers. However the maplist they were discussing was extremely limited and I disagree with comments that custom maps put players off, there just needs to be voting and a good variety of maps.
Since yesterday my financial situation looks much better, I might be working in Africa from November until April, but still it's too much time and money for me between now and December probably, so the [E] merge would be a good thing. It's only a temporary request to share costs.

Sorry update on the update.
[E] reaper is willing and able and offering to help out on the altfire server.
This is very good news. It seems I will be able to cover it myself anyway, but I am still not sure.
As soon as his password problem is sorted, we hope to see him here.
Time is an issue, so I hope that we see him soon.
