Hmmm.. he didn't login for almost two weeks. I guess he's *loving* business within his chambers of mapping creation.

Re: 2MB Mapping Challenge - Cozmo
hmm, he posted his DX3 skins for our project, but we haven't heard from him since, perhaps he's just on holiday?
Re: 2MB Mapping Challenge - Cozmo
Nope he's still around, will tell him to post.
EDIT: He's been locked out of his email account. Message from him. Pming chinny for change of email.

Re: 2MB Mapping Challenge - Cozmo
Thanks for sorting that out.
Don't suppose anyone could do the same over at DeusExMultiplayer.Freeforums? Eh, I'll stop being annoying now.
Thought of a way to make the upper area less unbearable, plus I need to do a proper skybox etc. Will do some more work on the map tonight.
Edit: When you've been in St Albans long enough, you start pronouncing it "snorbans". DXMP_Snorbans?

Re: 2MB Mapping Challenge - Cozmo
Don't think I've seen a lighthouse map in DX before; original name shouldn't be too hard

Re: 2MB Mapping Challenge - Cozmo
Did some more work on it today, added more decoration throughout the map, a skybox etc and it looks a lot better now. Can't really see anything else to do with it atm, so just going to consider it finished. Lighting could be better but I hate messing around with lighting. Uploading...
Sorry for bailing out on screenshots again but I'm just no good at them.

Re: 2MB Mapping Challenge - Cozmo
I think the lighting is one of the stronger elements. Particularly in the upper street. Most people light night scenes too brightly.
Generally I like this map for what it is, a night city map, of which there aren't many good ones in DXMP.
Things I did wonder.
1. Where am I? There is zero signage. The houses don't have numbers. No street signs or building signs of any kind at all.
2. There's no cover in the long lower street other than at the sides. I wonder how this will play, if it's good or bad.
3. 2 ceiling textures, it appears you just used wall texture. It doesn't look bad, but I wondered if this was intentional.
4. There's around 800kb to spare. Things like the camera just sticking to the big wall brush could be given some detail.
5. Forgot to check it for ambient sounds.
Otherwise I like the darkness and architecture of the map and I think this will play well.

Re: 2MB Mapping Challenge - Cozmo
Really good feedback Shadow - thanks. Brushes for camera, house numbers, some ceiling textures and more ambient sounds are definitely needed. Will work on it again at some point. Signage is a bit trickier with default DX textures though.

Re: 2MB Mapping Challenge - Cozmo
Vaguely reminds me of parts of Cozmo 1 too, the parkour thing near the spawn. As a UK player I like it when these UK mappers draw from their surroundings, you can see it in Facetown too. It's sadly missing from DX, the Berlin and London levels.
Been absolutely all over "Snorbans" for Red Cross / Action for Children etc, training chuggers, funny that I never went inside the Maltings. Seems like a really nice place to live. Seems like if you live in Luton and have a girlfriend, you have to come to "Snorbans" to avoid the beer being thrown over your romantic date, or so I was told. St Albans people were very proud of Offa's Dyke and kept showing it to me.
