To be VERY correct, a DVD-5 can store 4.38GB
All other values are fake due to improper calculation for good marketing.
4.38GB are 4,702,989,189 Bytes.

Since some people think they are damn smart they just decided to divide that amount with 10E+9 instead of 2E+30 and got 4.7 instead of 4.38

True, and also due to formatting you get less than that.

I guess most DVD players can play doublelayer DVD's, at least my old Pioneer and current LG do, both are very old.

Can't all DVD players play double layer DVDs?
