what you are playing now is the survival version, which is (at the moment) single-player only and quite complex, and requires some reading-up on the wiki

what I would host would be the simple multiplayer, with unlimited blocks and straighforward create-amazing-stuff gameplay.

i would also play its kinda ossum :P

I am hosting a private Alpha server right now, actually, since last month. It's on a VPS in Poland, you need a paid Minecraft account to play, though, it's 10 euros.

i have one :P its not paid for but it is premium
and still on some servers i'm not whitelisted but w/e xD

not using whitelists on my server (even though I could), I just kinda keep the IP private and distribute it only to some people
