I suggest the latter, because I play like daily and I get more than enough rounds to keep me interested.
I don't know where your from, but I'd guess dxmp is more active towards the end of the day...

I type code and I went on page without problems.

DX is NOT quite dead yet... it will live on MP for at least 1 year I think.
But I can see the situation that the flame is so weak, it could be blown away easily...
Maybe those who still play should post times or something...
I do honestly think DX3 will bring some new players... how long they stay wil depend on how stupid the existing players are.
I think quite a few players will play DXMP and DX1 just before buying and playing DX3
For me it's hardware and other issues keeping me out of servers at the moment, I hope someone still plays when I'm back in.
As for DXSG_Nexus, I can see i will finish this map just about when the last player gives up next year...
Once the DX3 excitement is gone and all the DX3 players stopped playing DXMP, then what will we do...
I think we should get the ex-community back in the servers for one month, just party hard, create massive server lists of.... 50+! Who knows it could even stick... we might end up with enough players for a year or two more...
Are the ex-community honestly really enjoying these new crappy shooter games?
Impossible is nothing...

I'd like to see a more active dxmp as well but I think it can only be done if there were new players coming into the game, which I dont think iis happening. Most of the older players have got bored of dxmp, and there aren't new players because dx is so old (if players wanted an online fps they wouldn't pick dx, and even if they did, the current state of largely empty servers will not keep them interested).

1. Botservers
2. New stuff
3. E-mails to all ex-players
4. Invite people to some kind of DX festival online, before or during DX3
5. People like myself make more effort to play at least 2 hours a week
6. Competitions players, mappers, modders etc.
7. Some fixing of tech issues etc.
8. More co-operation and teamwork between remaining players and clans
9. Less forum, more server
10. Being positive, "Impossible is nothing"
I agree people won't come, if it is to play a good online game.
But people will come for other reasons, DX1, DX3, Custom mapping/modding, because we advertised, etc...
We wont attract millions of people, but it won't be impossible, with a bit of effort and teamwork, to achieve a lot.
I suspect however, human nature is lazy, negative and cynical and people will continue to spend more time bitching and trying to look cool on forums than actually doing anything at all to save DX. Some People who stopped playing seem quite happy for it to end. I suspect no-one really has any faith left.

i'm kool
srsly though I hate bot servers. Games like URT or UT, or let's just say TF2 in that case. They're freaking.. well, annoying. They make the game worse. and it's true that they have advance knowledge of your locations too. If you hide behind something, they know it!!!111

yea i think bots in servers is a good way to go; I remember once when i was in TF2 I entered a server that was almost full (like 28/32 or something) and a few minutes in I realised (only because I looked at the scoreboard) that me & 1 other guy on the other team were not bots. Thought it was really funny that someone would host a server and fill it with fake players.
As for dxmp, I know there are lots of players who check the server list quite often and see its empty so they don't enter any of the servers. I think if there were good bots around then this would (at least temporarily) increase activity.
Emails to all explayers? I've emailed quite a few ex-players about a tournament that THC have organised (albeit, very scruffy tournament) and most completely refused to return to dxmp, some would like to return but can't really do so (various reasons).
As a start, I'd get some bot players in servers but unfortunately all the ones that exist I just can't get to work, and I not a coder or anything so I cant make some. And I don't think anyone will make any new bots (that are good).

??????????????????????????
CHOOSE BETWEEN SINGLE PLAYER OR EMPTY SERVERS THEN.... HUH??????????
What is happening at the moment is this. People are loading DXMP and seeing empty servers, thus no-one joins.
If Botservers like Drunkards / Bowens exist then at least people can join. We know for a fact, if there is one player on a botserver, another human will join. With the opportunity to choose against bots or human or both, it makes an interesting and different game everytime. I used to go to botservers before joining GODZ or FGS, just for practice.
srsly
I'm being deadly serious, botservers will increase the number of human players.
I am not talking about the other games that you played against bots, I am talking specifically about Hejhuka/Drunkards/Bowens bots, have you ever played it DJ. My suggestion is serious and right now, I don't see a better solution.

I've played UT99, the same are with Hej's, because he converted them.
I don't recommend bots as they ruin it, soon servers will have no bots tag and get servers.. like, you'll see '20/30" players, but in reality they'd be none there. Well, it's my personal opinion though.
@Blade
Yes, it was fun for a while, but after that, I got tired of it. Me being spy, they know where we are. They'd go like, you're cloaking behind them and they'd TOTALLY shoot at you even if they were looking ahead

Good point...
The old botserver had the name "Drunkard's Botserver"
And I am only talking about one or two servers, in the middle of the list, just purely somewhere to go, if you are waiting or hoping for more players to come online.
DJ and I had a meeting and we are looking at the Arena Mod. Trying to figure exact differences between Arena bot mod and Hardcore mod.
I played my first DXMP on this map. I think that was lucky, if I had gone to GODZ or GM I might have been disgusted by the language and lack of sportsmanship or RPG. Throwing lams and shelling pros as well as the custom maps on FGS kept me interested though...
Presumably people will play SP first, so this botserver is fun when u have just played SP.
We know people are still buying DX, they are connecting and seeing empty servers, its a shame, if there was something there to retain a player until the next person bought/connected, its going to have a roll-on effect and could help.
Any ideas about this problem? How get players buying the game to connect at least a few times...
I've noticed that there people who have been playing this game since 2001 and only found out last year its an MP game too.
I was the same, played it for 2 or 3 years before I realized I had the internet, hadnt played online at home before.
We need to target people who havent got the latest equipment or internet, it wont appeal to serious pro latest game gamers.
My only concern is that these bots will be using fps fastfire bug...
Here's a godz memory:

My first week in FGS...
