Never use the resize tools. They guarantee you to mess up your map.
Also, don't intend to go smaller than grid 4 because then you might not go lower than grid 2.

Re: 2MB Mapping challenge - Chees - Dx Studios
I found that out the hard way and took a good week /2 days to be in the mood to fix it! now my movers are default textures I hate this map now
as for grid I still set to 1 and unit 4 for detail on any map I have made so far as suggested a while back.
This map is not worth the my hassle I almost don't care and give up on this now

Well resizing didn't occur to me, because I don't see anything in either of your maps that could need resizing!
That's just major lazyness unless there's really no solution, like importing a vehicle prefab from UT to match Deus Ex size people.
I have resized Fuhrpark items and it can be ok, but making a mover from anything resized is almost impossible.

Re: 2MB Mapping challenge - Chees - Dx Studios
@Chees:
You can fix a mover texture by right clicking it, then choosing "copy polygons to brush", then pasting it as regular add-brush.
In 60-70% of cases this succeeds. Then you can retexture it, intersect it and make a mover out of it again.
..and in 30% of cases your unrealED might crash lol.
@Rollo:
You're talking of resizing meshes, do you?
I was referring to regular brushes.
While resizing regular brushes might still work at the expense of BSP, resizing movers will mess them up in 100% of cases.

Cheers Nobody
I should be able to copy the movers from an earlier save before the bug happened and messed up all the textures. after re textured the whole map then the movers as well seems like an effort doing things twice!
@ Shadow I never re-sized a mover I just re sized the building it's self which caused major problems. first and last time I do such a stupid thing like that.
I did it tbh!

Re: 2MB Mapping challenge - Chees - Dx Studios
@ Nobody,
I mean, resizing .t3d or add brushes before converting them to movers. Fuhrpark stuff isn't often the right size. Most of it can be resized without affecting the map, but changing these resized add brushes into movers is time consuming if not impossible sometimes. I was just quoting it as an example of it being possible, but that I don't recommend resizing anything at all ever, if there is an option to make a new brush.
Sometimes I had problems with copypolygons to brush on movers and I had to copypolygons to brush of the original brushwork.

Ahh right sorry Shadow I miss understood, I wasn't having a moan at you..not in the slightest
I think language between many people on this forum is miss leading. To most even when both members are the same language still to some members it means the opposite or a different thing completely. Different language's one of many wonders of this world

Re: 2MB Mapping challenge - Chees - Dx Studios
Update. Still many deco to add and a few things to tweak in the next 20 day's. At 2.6MB now down from 2.8 so difficult to add anything more atm. Just Trying to make the most of what I have with the least MB usage possible is the big challenge for most I think. Chin a '3MB Challenge' would have done me a big favor
ahh well I have several alignments to fix in the main building's due to me being an idiot and resizing and causing a major bug. it should bring it down to about 1.9 odd when fixed.

Re: 2MB Mapping challenge - Chees - Dx Studios
I do hope that the 2.6mb is with the textures and stuff included? Because the entire package wasn't supposed to be >2mb, not just the map itself right?
I hope you can get it down to 2mb, this seems like a good contender.
Especially liking the exterior, very nice

Re: 2MB Mapping challenge - Chees - Dx Studios

Thanks
I never had a chance for an RPG map...time will tell. Hopefully the spawns and items are in the right place for this map to work both Augs and non Augs.
