anyone know how to fix the crashing problems with fallout 3?
I have vista 64bit and I have tried everything but my game always crashes at a certain cutscene I don't have FFShow as far as I know and all of the ways to fix it that I have read have not worked or are not applicable... just wondering if anyone has found a way past this problem
other than that its one of the best games I have ever played, Its open ended plot and vastness of the world is awesome, if any game could compete with Deus Ex, its Fallout 3

its more like the plot line of DX IW, your in post apocalyptic United States you can be good and not kill anyone, or you can be evil and steal and kill. (or you can be like me and be nice to the people until you get what you want and then steal from them and kill them) there is a detailed skill system with both attributes and skills. and there are a ton of weapons and armors. along with a HUGE world and a pretty detailed plot (if you care to follow it) there are hundreds of possible endings, its the most open ended game I have ever played.
my favorite feature is the fact that you can pickpocket someone and put a frag grenade in their pocket and blow them up.
this issue is widespread from everyone who has the game on PC it is subject to random crashes due to software/hardware incompatibilities. Its probably the most unstable game on the market today. (not to mention the installer installs a BETA version of the .NET Framework 3.0 that already has an official release)
64bit mostly only has problems with older hardware and their drivers, due to the fact that it stores and processes data differently, most software works fine as long as its programmed the right way (variable storage is slightly different with 64bit, but If im not mistaken a 32bit OS will read and handle the values the same without needing 2 versions of the same software.)

randomly, mostly after I die and before I speak to a guy in the bar in Megaton. I think it is a problem with cut scenes. possibly an audio problem because after I stop listening to the radio I crash as well.
as far as I know the game has issues with PagePooledMemory but I don't want to modify that in my registry.

well, get 32bit.
Anyways, if you want a TRUE Fallout, go play F1 or F2.
THAT is the real deal.

Blowing Megaton up is fun, but I love Billy Creel (the pedophile lad with the eyepatch that takes "care" of that Maddy girl or something...)
So I couldn't do it.
Untill I downloaded Sharing & Caring Companions mod and took some of the cool guys out of Megaton before blowing it up.
Funny to do, I dismissed them and they (Billy Creel, Jericho and Nova) wanted to go back to Megaton... Have fun.
Awesome game, never gets old really. Just spending more time getting mods then actually playing but what the heck. Got nothing better to do.
And yes I realize old topic is old.
I need sleep.
