The [FGS] Clan

I almost submitted an application today to join FGS and realized I have never needed to use a screenshot before. I have taken some before of great scores I had, or so I thought. Since I never needed them, I was under the impression PrintScreen, not the sshot command took a shot, and was boggled when none of my scores were in my system folder.

So I went in game and try as I would, I just cannot play well enough. Many time I am near impossible to beat, but it seems to be too few and far between. I am tired of playing with a hit and miss ratio, I want to be good ALL the time.

So I ask of Hawk, Nobody, Prophet, Deathmaster, SPAZ, and anyone else who typically has amazing scores to please share with me some demorecs of your aug or Alt fire gameplay so I can at least see what I am missing. I know I am a good player, but there is a few pieces of the puzzle I haven't put together yet to complete my play style. To see some of your better games would help immensely.

And please don't bother sending me one if you only use sniper rifle. I HATE HATE HATE the rifle and I will never use it as my primary weapon. It is the ultimate fun sucker to me.

Sniper is the lethal take-down weapon, YOU must learn to use it, What's your average ping?

And if you really want to put all the puzzle pieces together, you really need to know about sniping too, here's some examples of what I've noticed:

IF your ping is--

30-150: Direct shot, this ping is known as "low ping"

150-200: Moderate shot, you shoot near the person, or just a direct shot, its confusing in this ping because it gets down, and then rises up, IMO this is the hardest ping to do sniping if it keeps going up or down. known as "moderate ping"

201-360: MY favorite ping, I always get these pings, I love em, these are the best for sniping, you have to hit near the person, if the person is going left, hit MORE left, or if hes going right, shoot right, NO direct shots work. What I like about it is, I've got used to it, so if I get low ping, i sux. IMO these ping type is known as "High ping"

I switch between sniper and assault shotgun. as my two main weapons. I don't like the assault rifle so I don't use it a lot.

augs, I don't really like them because I am usually high when I play and it is to much to coordinate. when I do use augs, I use speed aug, ballistic protection, ADS, vision aug, and radar detection (or whatever aug that makes you invisible to turrets)

I am best at the old school [A]Nobody's DXSG server with only 2 augs and I would use vision enhancement and the radar one, sometimes ADS. (I may be thinking about the original wunderland but I am not sure) however it has been years since I was really good at DX.

Eh forget it. I think I am just giving up on DX. My hand simply cannot maintain the coordination to getr good headshots, much less do the close quarters both players moving with speed aug melee snipe. It is to ridiculous for me.

Maybe I'm just feeling shitty cause I broke up with my fiance or some metabolic end product, maybe I'll try DX again. But by then it will probably be completely dead. *love* it. If I keep playing I am always going to be chasing the level that you veterans have and my computer equipment and hands cannot even begin to keep up, despite playing this game for nearly 7 years. It is losing its fun for me.

Carry on everyone and enjoy yourself, don't take any of this as me insulting the community, because you all are great. I just can't keep up with this game any longer as I get into the military.

You will need the rifle anyway. Try practicing with pistol then later switch to the rifle. I don't have a proper demorec yet but I'll try to make one in the near future. I've seen you getting some nice kills with the throwing knives but those can be dodged easily if enough room is available. Choose sniper, an assault and a random weapon you need. In augs, try to find a proper equipment before you start attempting to slaughter the enemy. (Bio cells, alternative ammunition, explosives, and medkits) Without these you will probably die fast.

Once you have found the optimal inventory try to stick with it and practice as much as you can on it.
My usual inventory is Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle and GEP gun.
Assault Rifle is needed for close range combats and it deals fine damage.
Sniper Rifle deals high damage and useful for long ranges.
GEP gun is for easy streaks only, when your enemy is busy with repairbot, shelters or just trying to run away. Never use it when your enemy sees it in your hands because he will probably switch on ADS. I often fall for that trick unfortunately but I get at least as many kills as reward.
Chinny uses Pistol instead of GEP and he's very good with it. Two hits on the head and your enemy is dead. It's accurate and deals high damage. Long firing rate though.

In Altfire I would recommend the same way of starting a game. Get a good equipment (explosives, medkits) and THEN start slaughtering. You will need the rifle here aswell, especially that there's no such thing as ballistics in Altfire so one hit on your enemy's head will make him end up dead for sure. In addition, the Energy Rifle in Altfire doesn't require the scope to be turned on to deal triple damage and can shoot deadly energy balls aswell.
Never be scared of retreating. When you're low on HP/Bio/Ammo don't sacrifice your life, don't go kamikaze. If you still have enough bio to run away, then do. Don't let your bio run off at all, if no biocell is available and your biolimit is on 50% then start heading back to a safe place ASAP.

I believe that Sniper Rifle is one of the best and most important weapons in DXMP so if you want to catch up, you will need it for sure.

I ask you Yanni, when exactly was the last time you played? I check the servers both in DX and through XFire, and I NEVER see you on. You probably haven't played in so long, you'd be as rusty as a knife left in the ocean for 30 years.

Dude the only advice you need to play this game is have a bit of patience, too many people panic and mess up, just chill out, smoke a blunt or something then play some. Don't learn how to play like somebody else, learn how to play to suit you and know that there's no such thing as a "homosexual" weapon. There are homosexual ways of using them but using the weapon in general is completely cool, especially in augs, you have ways of surviving EVERY type of attack, don't let a noob get you down if they're too retarded to block it.

there is no need to try to get to the level of some "veterans" Im a veteran and I don't even play that well anymore.I get decent scores, never anything amazing. and plus most people who play this game don't have the best computers around. my old computer had the bare minimum requirement for DX for a long time and that was back in the days when I actually did get awesome scores.

You do? I certainly don't play everyday. As for Skilgannon, I don't play on the ALTFIRE server, if that's what you mean by checking the DXMP servers.
