Some goon decided to take our one and only clan HQ map and remove all the FGS pics and add porn pics, someone (maybe same guy) posted it on YouTube.
No mention of FGS or map author either. Almost like taking credit for the map. But seeing ass instead of Icho over the fireplace was disturbing.
It comes up first in a search for "Deus Ex Multiplayer Gameplay" as well. What *loving* idiots.
About 6 mins into the vid.

I wrote to him and told him to do something about it. Misrepresentation and defamatory etc.

Well, glad that it appears to be resolved now.

Seems to be a trend, just joined an SG server and Noodle's map has clan-17 banners where his usually was.

Nobody's map protection should work against that no?

No? Decaching is just finding the file that you downloaded from the server and changing the name to what it's supposed to be, no need to open it in an editor and what not
Unless Noodz has another hax that protects against that, then wow.

For Fun?
I dont think Steve/FACE had much fun to join the server and see disclosure mod turned into multiplayer (badly) without his permission.
It should be a bannable offence - 3 months ban, taking work without permission, if the taker is not willing to work with the author at least.

It is a blatant theft we are talking about. If you are nice, you can notify the offender prior taking any action. If he isnt cooperative, do what you can if you can do anything at all. Digital property is a gray area for many, still. Me linking those movie pictures to that thread is theft as well

I wouldn't say a blatant theft. As you say digital property is a gray area, and in this case, the ownership of the property in question is an even bigger gray area.
That said, it's a mass lack of common courtesy to do such a thing, and no matter who it belongs to, defacing a map is very disrespectful towards the creator, regardless of the owner.
Perhaps in the future, maps of this magnitute should be protected by yourself with the appropriate protection tools. I don't personally endorse them, but they may come in handy in preventing future problems.
