Training people...

Well I noticed that some DX3 players are responding to the posts that Wildcat and I make on Eidos Forums, others are responding to Steam, and others are curious just from reading about DX3.
In particular, one of the DXMPHR project members, Sotsiak, played for quite a while yesterday. I noticed that he was coming 1st or 2nd and was having pretty good scores for someone's first day in dxmp. I gave him a few tips. In fact he was ownage to be honest. He got higher scores than 8 other regular players. Said his weapons stopped firing all the time, I think he would have done a lot better even.
Obviously these new players are too new for FGS membership, but I would also hate to see the best ones join XKT and ZXC.
Should we have something similar to before, [FGT] or something like that. Taking the best of the best and giving them some training, they could have their own forums, graduates would then be invited to join the mother clan, or daddy clan I should say.
Like this or don't like this idea?

i see no relation in someone new and clans; obviously they won't look forward to clans, play the damn game?

Hmm, getting with a clan is probably a common piece of advice though. Maybe you are right, there are enough clans at the moment anyway.

Sotsiak is not new.
Why would anyone want to join some old clan which only makes mods and maps? Not to be rude or anything, but you guys
as a clan don't even
play the damn game. How do you expect to teach newer guys anything?
Joining a clan is the best way to improve your skills. Obviously, if you join a clan that does nothing then you would gain nothing from joining them. I'm always on the look out for new players with potential, I try my best to help my clan mates improve. So if I see a good new player, you've got competition.

tbh, the best 'new' player i've seen is mario (in augged gameplay).

Yup, you definitely have competition.
There is no way I would advise a new player to join a clan which blames 0-aug for the death of DX.
There is no way I would encourage a player to join a clan like THC or VLS, where bugging and console use is considered "skill"
There is no way I would advise a player to be involved with people who consider themselves superior.
I agree with your topic on Dogny, but the thread on ZXC is plain stupid and terrible way of teaching new players to think.
So yeah, game on Blade, not you personally or even THC, but you can see my frustration, nothing changes in six years...
Until auggers completely and utterly stop blaming ZXC or 0-aug or custom mappers for everything, while refusing to accept their own behaviour is equally destructive to the community and recruiting new players, then I don't have much patience.
Funny, the only people I see not sniping, but giving players a chance by using DTS or low tech weapons are ALL 0-auggers.
Unless advanced players take more responsibility, get harsher with people bugging, stop empjumping, mapbuggin, toggle crouch etc, then you are EQUALLY responsible for the destruction of DX.
You can't tell me Squat, FGS and Triad worked together, we took a lot of abuse from Alpha and others for it. Yet we created a peace and we created a time when there was enjoyment of the game. A triad member hosted a 32 slot zero aug server. Zero augs, and all the other crap your forum users whine about is not the problem. It's their reluctance to be honest, fair and meet others halfway. For that reason, it's selfish, even more selfish than ZXC tbh, because you guys do have skill, experience and knowledge.
Servers need to more clearly defined. A place where bugs are banned. A place where console use is frowned on. A place where a player can try all weapons and get a fight with them, before he needs to be expert sniper. And advanced players need to do their "advanced" stuff elsewhere...

Sorry but these points have no basis. I don't know you very well but it seems you have a nack of saying things which are completely random.
No one in any clan blames 0-aug for the death of anything.
What bugs are you referring to? What console use are you referring to? I think I've said already somewhere that all my player configurations can be done in-game at the menu screen from the default setting (i.e. anyone can do it), and if I can still compete with good players then why the hell do you need all these weird things that im not even sure are (that your talking about).

What topic about dogny?? what thread about zxc??
Seriously, you should pay more attention to who is writing the stuff you attribute to me.

I guess this is also aimed at me or the clan im in.
You are very mistaken because if THC hated 0aug or custom maps, why would they host a (actually quite popular) 0Aug server which offers lots of custom maps to play in. THC even have mappers, for normal fighting maps AND RPG/FUN server type maps.

You can't blame me or the clan im in for what
others write on our forum. We allow people to share their views (its what a forum is for), it does not mean every member of the board shares these opinions.
I have the utmost respect for zXc, they're really nice cool people, I would love to see them stay active.
No offence but they're nicer than members I find on this board.

Blade, fair enough, I do rant on sometimes...
but suggesting people join FGS is not such a bad idea, Sotsiak is a coder who is learning mapping.

I've already made a few videos, very basic basic stuff, addressing problems which I hear quite often from new players.
Not got access to youtube for stupid reasons

so it might be awhile before it gets uploaded.
So I'm gona work on the more advanced tips for now.

yah i've finished making these videos a few weeks ago actually but havn't uploaded them...
err I uploaded some yesterday but theres still one more which I didnt get time to put up (the files are quite big).
I'll give a little description of each soon, would be nice if anyone could direct new players (who are interested in augged gaming) to have a little look at those vids. They're not excellent by any means, but I think they're better than nothing.
