Just curious...

Just wondering whether it is allowed to abuse the fire rate bug on the FGS (&/or RTKM) Servers?
Seem some people continue to abuse it, just wanted to know if its allowed.

Mind if I ask you instead?
Is it allowed in THC?

1. Bug abusing
Do not abuse any kind of bug that gives you an unfair advantage. These include (but are not limited to):
Fire-rate (multi-core/high fps),
Ladderbugging (where you can shoot outwards but the people outside can not shoot you back),
Drop bug (so you can fire numerous weapons at once, or fire whilst cloaked).

Just asking because I'm not sure if its allowed on the FGS servers, I don't see a server rules topic

If its allowed then thats fair enough, im just asking.
Oh lol sync, I've made a mistake about the ladderbug thingy...gota re-word it (because you can shoot ladderbuggers).

I don't see why any bug exploits should be allowed.

Me neither.. that's why there are no explicit rules, because we appeal to the human common sense and we think it's self-evidently that using exploits is a no-go.

You can't increase your fire rate intentionally on either server as they both run CRDM, the only way someone would have it is the old massive FPS or running on Vista errors.

In 2008 maybe one or two players might crouchbug or be tapping keys insanely fast to avoid damage.
I go away for a year and a half and virtually everyone is now is doing some form of crouchbug.
It's the major difference I saw since playing before - Dancing snipers...

Obviously, ban... that is, if any admin is around.

DJ is right, but the problem is determing it sometimes.
So far, the people who ban for fast fire rate (any server in dx), imo aren't accurate enough.
People get beaten and lose their cool and suddenly someone is banned.
Also I had fast fire rate once on a laptop and it wasn't so noticable with some weps.
So I think a dialogue needs to be in place first. Education first, then ok people who consistently abuse, sure ban.
Take Zanza and Phantom for example. Phant clearly can fix his problem, but chooses most of the time not to.
Zanza is just a newb and I don't think a ban would make any difference to anyone. He can be educated or controlled.

yea i've spoken to zanza about it and I honestly believe he doesnt know how to fix it...I think it'l be harsh to ban someone like him.

I remember the time and effort Icho put into new guys and it's worth it, some of us are a bit less noob.
Zanza means well, but Phant really doesn't care, in fact he seems fairly pro-active in spreading bugs and gloating over people.
It's up to Fear and Jima, but I wouldn't miss him if Blade wants him banned. I'd ban him on altfire and sg too, to make a point.
A database of offenders and warnings with support for those who need help to fix it, but that's like a major project.
