Some questions about altfire server

"We" are paying rent for the altfire server, but it is often down for more than 24 hours. Why is this? Could I ask, why is the server down at the moment? Is there some technical issue, or unrestart is not working.

Why are there so many folders in that server? Why are there so many files, .u files that are irrelevant to altfire low grav. Is this some kind of back-up, having several folders? For example why is boompigeon in the altfire system folder?

I don't understand why a maptest like VandenbergPB, which has been removed, keeps re-appearing. Are you saying that we can not control the maplist. Why does that maptest after two years keep re-appearing? I remember you saying something about if there is a server problem, it reverts to another maplist or something. My time and hardware capabilities for upload are limited often, for example DXSG_Abydos couldn't be uploaded today, even if I wanted to, need to search all the files, new pc. And after pissing you all off about it and trying to get to the bottom, i notice the problem isn't solved, VandenbergPB is still there.

I appreciate members don't like the fact that GD doesn't always show logs, but I've noticed if we are renting the current altfire, it's only online about 50%? of the time. I'm sure if we polled, everyone doesn't care and would prefer a server that is more reliable and that we can actually control the maplist and a server which is online 100% of the time.

And guys, I notice we still don't use DJ's mod mod. I wonder why that is.

I pay the costs for the Wunderland Altfire server all on my own (and never received any money for it). The main problem is that the server has only 1gb ram and the DX server needs more, but I can't afford a new server with more ram and I don't want to rely on unsafe 'donations' from other FGS members. I also have some other project websites running on that server and I don't want to have to give anyone else.
Sometimes the server crashes because its out of memory, sometimes because it GPFs or someone uses admin commands or inconsistent mutators he/she shouldn't use.
The UnRestart tool still has some stupid bugs in it that prevent it from running at 100% uptime. I'd really like to test out all those things to fix those bugs, but I cannot simulate the altfire server on my own pc (nor debug that thing on the server). For now its the best solution, because a simple batchscript won't detect a deadlocked server.

And about that maplist problem: That's up to you guys. You have FTP access and you have the power to start/stop and restart it. I'm pretty unfamiliar with all maps and the mods.

OK well that's amazing of you Hawk.

I'm a bit confused still, you rent, but it needs more ram? So buying some ram will not help? because it is not your pc?

Sorry for like ignoring all the point, but I think it's been there forever. I think it's still there.
