before it was released, but I'm not really sure what happened to that plan. Yeah it's actually being hosted right now, and a lot more people than I expected to join have played, so to some of you this might be old news. Anyway...
This is something I've been working on for a while, mainly over the last year or so, when I wasn't at college or whatever. I finally managed to complete it, and it's being hosted atm (although you might prefer exploring it on LAN; idk). It's a sandbox RPG city thing, and almost everything is automated, including roles (cop, triads plus NPC equivalent etc), houses, shops and so on. Loads of features that I can't really list them like this. Anyway; download it and have a look around - it should be good for at least a few hours of fun.

It's actually one giant map! makes me wanna make rpg, wouldn't take long to knock up a small city for Cozmo and others to code.

I'm really enjoying this mod. it's addictive like shadowrun.
I'm itching to add some brushes and textures to that map or make one for it... I love all the different areas and their vibes...

The trick would be to map on a meggage shoestring, make everything as small meggage as possible that would be a challenge.
If one of us manages to get our hands on the map let's work cooperatively.

Noodz tried to help me get on here, and it turns out I suck - my account's been activated for a while now apparantly

so hey everyone!
Thanks for posting this DJ, and thanks for the feedback everyone! As I've said to Chinny already, people helping out with the map would be awesome. Looks like I might be sending a copy to you and Shadow to play around with? A warning beforehand though; this can be BSP hell - a few (bad) prefabs of entire buildings plus lazy mapping.
I think one thing I really overlooked was the area with the elevator to the hotel btw. Seems kind of pointless when a better part of the city with bigger houses and being closer to the subway is just next to it. Not sure what I can do to make it a bit more interesting.

I think your map might benefit from zone lighting that way we can take out alot of light actors which should reduce the size of the map, if we can get the map size down a little it may become more stable.

I thought Noodz once said that the size increase from light actors isn't that much, more the amount of brushes etc?
Either way zone lighting takes away alot of work, but is also less precise so to say lol

Thinking about it, I'd say they're about the same in most cases - only the most horrendously complex brushes will be larger in filesize terms than lights.
Cutting down on brushes tends to have a larger impact on file sizes due to simplification of the BSP tree and raytracing data, rather than because the brushes themselves are large.

I took the liberty of making a tiny police station, If Cozmo likes it I'd love it to be in Cozmo_RPG. The challenge I set myself was having a reception area (where you are told by the guy that the police are recruiting), a little place for the police chief and also a jail area.
I managed to make this using just 230kbs (although I would still need to copy in Cozmo's jail cells if he wants to use this).
The screenshot is from the view of the receptionist guy, on the left is the chief's area and the cells are just off screen to the left, the cells are underground.
I hope you don't mind me attaching pictures (I've made them jpegs).

Thanks, I think the trick with RPG is to map as small as you can but try to make the place look convincing enough which is quite tough.

Made a little medical place (hospital), In Cozmo_RPG you start off in a hospital as you are ill and coughing. Made this using bits from medical rooms in Unatco and bits from the free clinic.
Only weighs in at 214kbs.
