The [FGS] Clan

Not sure if this is the right place, mods feel free to move it to the right one if needed.

So I reinstalled DX mainly to play through the single player again. Everything was going fine and dandy, and I was busy with blowing up the super freighter on realistic. I saved and closed the game and next time I tried to open DX I got following error:



Please tell me how to fix this o mighty gods of DX crashes.

Will I succeed when I copy my last save to another location and then reinstall DX? Or won't that work?

If your DX generally crashes, then it should work.
A savegame is just a package, containing the models of maps and instances of all occurring actors.
So it's independent from broken dx files.

Have you tried removing your saves?

Check your Help folder, maybe the starting image with Dx logo is missing

Wow, that's a good assumption!
I just renamed my Logo.bmp in the help folder and I got exactly the same GPF.
Now I recall such a problem but I wouldn't have reminded it on my own.

@Poor: He wants to keep his saves. Removing them would literally go into the wrong direction.

He's PRETTY much inactive since mid of 2010.

Ye, I saw him only on Altfire, but I'm not sure he's Prophet I hope he will confirm it

I started play on Altfire in June 2010.

He was a beast at Altfire, very good indeed. I might actually start playing serious again!
