Besides inventing the genre of sci-fi slasher movie and also making Bladerunner, Ridley Scott's great gift is the Alien franchise.
Alien was groundbreaking
Aliens was a great war movie
Alien 3 was disappointing, set inside a garbage can and using soap opera actors etc...
Alien Ressurection was perhaps similar to Aliens.
After 4 Alien movies you have some idea what is going to happen, there will be Aliens and people will die...
So going along to the cinema and watching Prometheus in 3D, I was expecting to be disappointed.
In fact the movie blew my socks off. I can't say why, it's a massive spoiler, but that's the point of the Prequel...
The design, graphics and CGI is fantastic and it has a brilliant cast including Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron and Noomi Rapace.
There's a 3:16 extended trailer on Youtube and a 4:38 deleted scene out there too, which is a prequel to the prequel.
I have converted the spaceship in the movie to GURPS RPG and am drawing up deckplans, maybe a map in future.
