FGS non Aug and Phantom.

So I personally think time has come to put a stop to allowing Phantom free roam on playing how he plays. It's certain this guy is playing out of the standard boundaries we all use. He reloads his sniper faster and is quite clear that he abuses FPS to his advantage. TThe guy wins alot of maps but its through abuse of in game mechanics and not skill.

FGS is about fun, first and foremost but this dude is ruining the fun for alot of people.

I personally would like a vote so that the guys who play this server and who frequent this forum decide his fate wether or not to get this guys IP banned.

He is banned on A!B server for simple FPS abuse and his continuing choice to do so. I think we as a community should force him to either stop his abuse or get rid of him. If this was any other game he would have been banned along time ago.

I will let the forum masters decide if a vote is needed or not and for them to place the vote but I think that most of the community is a little bit more then pissed off at Phantom.

Kills : 97
Deadh : 11

I recently cleared the banlist as it was quite big and FGS 0-Augs needed more activity. The problem with banning people for FPS abusing is we'd be banning at least a quarter of the community?

At times goes on more and more people have high FPS, it's not something we have much control over. I personally like playing against these players as they are like super players.

Your are correct Chin, there is alot of FPS abuse but I simply believe Phantom to be doing more than the normal unlock FPS to fire faster = win.

If you watch his game properly you'll instantly see its more then just high FPS.

Whatever it is that he does, does not work in ATDM as when playing that game type he is rubbish and can't aim for toffee.

It's true, his style of play is dubious it really is...but you can't just ban him....it's a little extreme. I know there isn't any other solution at the moment but I don't know..

I always said that Phantom does have a sense of humour, and I'll have to admit his FPS clan is a stroke of genius... :bwahaha:

I always find him fun to play against. It's really a shame he abuses his speed.

I have a theory on how to detect a speed advantage with a mutator, it could force them to spectate and tell them how to cap their fps (most renderers cap at 60).

I'd need the help of a coder who is experienced with network replication though. I have no idea how to go about doing this or if it's even possible. I am honestly a coding newb.

My idea: Make the mutator spawn a clientside actor on each player. In this actor, create a variable, set it to Level.TimeSeconds and update it in Tick(). If it ever exceeds Level.TimeSeconds, then their Tick() is being called too often, so that means they have a speed advantage. I had this idea when I did AllWeapons and it only spawned them on my client. Can clientside actors access anything on the server though?

So if the fps would be higher than 200-250 for example, you would want the mod to force the player into spectate mod?
What if it forces players who don't abuse fps into spectate mod "by accident" ? Say for example in very small maps like Elevation and Morbias where players can get higher fps when they are just walking around the map, or when someone is camping facing a wall and waiting for enemies. In very small rooms or when you face a wall the fps could get very high, 200-300 sometimes, but in the middle of the fight the fps can drop to 40-50. The mod should detect the fps of a player during a fight - when they shoot.

I agree on banning Phantom just because he was one of the reasons I stopped playing DXMP two years ago. I don't have a problem with those who have FPS advantage without being aware of it, but this guy has been abusing a bug and therefore cheating on purpose for a very long time. Yes, get rid of him please.

On another hand, capping fps would be superb, direct players with these problem to a website where they can find an easy tutorial on how to solve this issue.

Yeah youre right, everyone should cap the fps to not get kicked when they are facing walls

Some newer players wont understand why they keep getting kicked without an apparent reason because they don't even realize they are abusing fps. Linking them to a website showing them how to cap is a good idea. Or perhaps just write "go in deus ex ini , find framerate limit, write =200/150 whatever the limit is, save"
Would be nice having next to the score table, next to or before ping the FPS of each player. Not sure if its possible or if it would be accurate enough (whoever is making that mod should test if its accurate enough according to different factors, could the fps showed be different when you use a rifle or a pistol or DTS, try with high and low ping if it can make it inacurrate, etc ) , but it would help admins spotting abusers

Also, based on what you're saying, there's a good chance they won't know what deusex.ini is. The easiest thing is to direct people to some place where they can get answers.
