Sometimes I think the Alpha masters of the universe masterserver control plan wasn't such a bad idea. Either someone needs to win the lottery and buy/hack the masterserver or we need to ask ppl for support and do it professionally.

I'm not sure what you could do with the master server other than ban this female sex organ off it. It would be far easier to for server admins (FGS, Karkys etc) to keep in touch regularly and move in synch with these cases, range banning them if necessary.

not solid unless two fake solids existed in server at the same time another day.

Well maybe since GD run a significant number of servers, won't be difficult to block more than the 2 people GD already do.

He was doing this in my server. The real solid was there and the fake one followed him in (though it took him 20 minutes to download everything heheh) and spammed like in the screenshot. I used nethphys' in-game command to range ban him but this didn't have much effect. He quickly gets a new IP with entirely different subnets. Maybe if you do enough range bans, it will do the trick, but after 4 range bans (1024 addresses) I got worried about banning legitimate players. Maybe AdvBan will work on him. If he knows how to get around that then maybe we need something more malicious effective.

That sounds provocative, let's remember that unlike other individuals Alpha never maliciously moved people onto separate MS's, even when they had the ability to do so (and in-fact worked hard to move people back onto the default one after they were maliciously moved uniquely onto the DXMP one).

We certainly debated the whole separate Masterserver idea, I can't completely remember but Alpha may have even had one running for a while, but it was never even contemplated forcing it on people, or being used as some kind of "control plan". Like I've wrote before, new players buying Deus Ex will be on the default MS, if that dies, or if everyone is on a different one when these new players try to find people to play with, it won't work, and it'll just be overall detrimental.

EDIT: Went back to 2007, Alpha did host a Masterserver, but again it certainly wasn't forced on anyone as an alternative to the default. At most it was encouraged/added with MMUserInterface alongside the default MS in the event it went down, which at the time was frequent for maintenance.

On AdvBan, generally people won't bypass it. Both Adv Ban 1 and 2 are downloadable and work in different ways; and if they bypass 2 then 1 will work probably better. If you look closely enough at someone's range, you'll generally find a pattern. Very rarely someone will vary outside of the first two numbers, and you can ban that if needs be; (75.150.80.200), so 75* will get rid of them, but you run into the risk of inadvertently banning other players, especially if it's a common ISP in that country. Generally speaking, the first two groups will remain the same (so 75.150*), but generally most of you will know about banning ranges.

Sorry if I meant to be provocative I meant it in a positive way (I thought MOTU were the good guys?), the idea of greater control of servers is probably necessary, it's just a question of how it's done, I'm saying I was wrong really.

Deathdragon means nothing to me, not familiar.

If the Dev's do play Hengsha as part of promotion/PR, it's an opportunity to demonstrate the need for something modern.

I think a successful proposal will include everyone in some way, not just dxmp people, also it will "match" support, i.e. have support from more than one relevant organisation.

Seeing how people took action in NY against sexual offenders and other undesirables on console/xbox gaming, I don't think it impossible to gain support against the worst offenders in DXMP, when people see how annoying it is.

The only other thing on my mind is registered servers. Register to play.

Unfortunately, his IPs are from all over the globe. I've been banning approx 10 different ranges already. Fortunately, IPs within certain ranges just differ in the last block, so you can do xxx.xxx.xxx.*

I've had the same thought already. The banlist can be even configured like that without additional mods. However, it might result in a significant loss of players.
