Just not the same anymore

The game I used to love is just not the same anymore, it's nothing like it used to be. It used to be all about the technical aspects such as timing, now it's whoever has the more powerful GPU wins in most cases, and it disgusts me, this is not the game I know and love and so I will reconsider my role in this community.

You know what I do when The MP community makes me mad? I just don't play for about a week or two, during that break, I make moddy stuff, maps, gametypes, what ever... Just to get my mind off of it.

As much as I agree with the opening post, the irony in this thread is unbearable.

Go play real rpg, where its not about killing but making the most money, or having the most badass apartment or whatever. This way there's nothing that really gives people unfair advantages because no one kills, if done right.

I've done some research, since I've gotten little help from the thread I created here. By my estimations, 90% or more of dx players with CPU or motherboard from the last 5 years probably cheats even with FPS capped. And in almost all of those cases, they don't know about it. We are currently investigating our own members, but I really wanted to forward my thanks for doing *love* all about public awareness, or perhaps even your own awareness.
Much to your dismay, I have to also give the bad news that I myself and Kiki do not fall into that 90%, but mostly by chance. My hardware is too old but motherboard did feature cpu throttling feature that I uninstalled years ago, and Kiki has it in his architecture but for some reason he doesn't remember himself he had disabled it. I would like to remind you though that if your cpu speeds up, you will take damage faster -- problem on your side, not ours.
Also, trying to fix it for some newer members I've realized not only the magnitude but also severity of the issue. Server-side solution of some kind would be best, but UT bordered with notification and kick/ban. I don't really know what to say to those players who will have to disable up to 4 power saving features from bios or pay much larger electricity bill just to play an old game.
DXMP won't be gaining any players this way, but will definitely be loosing them.

Damage is indirectly instigated by the attacking client but issued serverside. Thus, as client getting attacked, your local game speed doesn't matter. If your gamespeed alters the damage behaviour on your client in any way, it would just end in a cruel clientdeath, which means you survive but you lost your HUD.

Why are speed abusers more vulnerable to poison, damage, and from my experience common rifle fire, then? I don't mean to argue against your code wisdom, I am just going by experience. Killing Phantom with flamethrower was always fun.
In fact, I've sometimes capped my fps to low values in order to survive longer in fights vs fps abusers, and it *seems* to work. I get better scores, die less.. How does it work, then?
