My favorite zombie mod was Red Greasels. It was player vs player. It would start with one zombie player trying to kill and infect the others. Humans would quickly scavenge for weapons and ammo and then camp, forming barricades and setting up manually controlled turrets to survive. Zombies had custom augs like climb up walls and turn into a rat. Humans won if they survived the time limit or the zombies ran out of lives. If you see RG (Playor), tell him we want this back!

It's like the greatest mods in DXMP History, and they are only hosted for a week... Then the disappear.

I think there are many reasons, some offer elements of sp, modification of hud, new visuals, new augs, new ideas.
Also I am not sure that is strictly true, Altfire is up for 10 years, DXSG was up for two years and is still top voted on Altfire, Cozmo has been hosted fairly continously for 2 years. People still host Funline. DXAG has only 1 of 3 custom maps hosted, but people still host and play the mod.
Not sure where to class RG Zombie, it has custom augs. Moved AvH. Added RG Zombie.

But RG'S Mod was different, and had a great concept. Different things make the best ones.

Which is precisely why I don't use gametypes, databases or anything else that would even slightly complicate hosting a mod

MMCity was far higher quality than anything I made, but reliances on DXMS for savegames (iirc) got it killed quickly, and nobody's been able to host it since. I also wish people would stop unnecessarily protecting packages! This is probably the biggest killer.

i concur with cozmo. in my modding experience (or lack of

), protected mods, are the biggest waste of cow dung in all of mongolia! seriously, the dxmp community is like 43 people, and most of the mods released are protected or geared towards gameplay protection??1?! i think, codders have really failed this community, in the sense that most other games have birthed great gametypes like halflife-counterstrike, garrysmod, um and others. here in dxmp, we are still playing the same 0 aug, btdm, atdm from 1912.
luckily, poor is pushing ahead with wwii mod, and I'm about to release CS mod, and its not just default propertering clyzm's weapons.

Ah the now infamous CS mod by the Bamz0rz, will it ever see the light of day? will the DXMP community ever settle their differences?, will DJ ever get pubes?, stay tuned and find out here....in the twilight zone.

Most of the mods that were protected were protected because they had stolen code in them anyway and didn't want to get found out
