There's a bootable DVD called desinfec't.
It scans the system with several anti-virus scanners.
My sister used to have an annoying virus that disabled the access to all windows controls.
I was able to remove it again with that DVD.

If you can't find it on the internetz, I can upload it. The size is approx 2GB.

That sounds like a handy thing to have. I'll look for it.

Well, actually the DVD comes with the German computer-technics magazine c't.
Thus.. it's not entirely free.
That's why i offered to upload it if no source would be available.

Thanks Nobody post where we can dload it and i will copy to my laptop. I can see many people in the near future encountering the English version of this German based system take over virus . On saying that my dads friend has it via email today I will post sshot of offending uk ransom screen i had when I'm up and running again.

Found several 20Gb HD's in my garage, where the hell they came from idk! So Chees begins the tedious task of installing a OS and all the crap that goes with a fresh start new HD used as storage drive is wise I think the battle continues must say I've never had A problem as major as this it makes UED a breath of fresh air compared to the last 4 days! Pfffft, you noobs and your noobidom. Lockdown many metabolic end product is urine easy to fix. Disable windows restore (the software backtrack not the OS install function) get Malwarebytes or SuperAntiSpyware or something to that degree, start the machine in safemode with networking and run one of the antispyware programs.

99% of people mistake Scareware for lockdown viri. However, both can be treated by the previous. If all else fails, stop looking at dodgy porn.

Those type of problems are dead simple and solved by simply ctrl/alt/del and closing the browser.
It's only if you respond to the choices offered, does the exe actually activate.
The locked out browser is best simply closed in task manager. Problem gone.
If you're streaming movies that will happen quite regularly and it's like sdk, close and start again.

If I recall correct it was NOT possible to start a program.. not even in save mode.

Correct Nobody. I hit ctrl alt del was the first thing I did even ctrl shift esc was disable as was all safe modes the virus was active again disabling any commands. No CDs mentioned helped to restore anything. Everything on google was only workable with safe mode and the ability to cmd prompt but virus kicks in and blocks everything! I won't explain this again...noobs

So have you tried running an antivirus from a bootable CD? If you know where the virus is you could manually remove it with a Linux CD.

The update process of the virus definition files might take a WHILE.
The ISO file is a DVD ISO file and can be burned to a DVD. The size is 2GB.
