Camping

Post by Kothar »

I feel like starting this because I want to...

have come to the conclusion that Camping is nothing more than a strategy to get as many kills as possible without exposing yourself a lot. I find this to be very tactical and yet people are shunned for it.

everyone knows that if you run out into the middle of any map with a large open area that you have a good chance to be sniped.

This is Deus Ex! the game is designed so that you can camp so why take that element out of the game? just because other people arn't smart enough to use the map to their advantage.

Armies camp, I fully support campers, if they want to hide in comm, they can expect a nade to be thrown inside, if they can survive that nade, then they are good at camping.

Anyone who calls a camper a noob or lame is lame themselves. Some people need to camp and aim at choke points, like in real life.

However wallcamping in altfire is not gg, it is not camping, it is mapbugging and people should be aware of the difference. The player is reaching parts of the map that the map designer never intended players to reach and reaching an area he can only reach in wunderland, not on rtk server. Therefore I see it as completely lame, if not bugging and verbal abuse of wallcampers to get off the wall and show themselves or at least play inside the map is entirely justified.

And Kothar wallcamping is not smart, it will empty the server in most cases, it wont bring respect, and I deal with them by refusing to go outside. My monitor is not bright and on maps like CMD and Towers3 there is not any point to try, I might as well not be carrying a gun. If the person is on a roof, that is different, it is inside the map, but WALL camping could be called leaving the map... basically a cheat using the lowgrav to circumnavigate the design of the map.

Camping was quite important in the Iraq war, especially in the assaults. Camping is smart, wallcamping is dumb. You can't ambush without camping either. Perfectly legitimate. Let the enemy find you and you find them on your terms, thats war. But wallcamping, I might as well log in and cloak...
