I still remember the exact moment when I stumbled upon Doxnd Plazencia's Saudalma EP on a music forum, hidden away in the depths of a zip file download. It was the summer of 2022, and I was browsing through threads dedicated to obscure electronic music. The title Saudalma caught my attention - I had no idea what it meant, but something about it seemed captivating.
Experimenting with the Unknown
I'm not going to lie, my expectations were low. The quality of underground electronic music can vary wildly, and it's easy to get burned by hype or overhyped artists. But as I pressed play on the EP, I was immediately struck by the cohesion and depth of the soundscapes Doxnd Plazencia had created. The tracks flowed effortlessly into one another, each one building upon the last to create a sonic tapestry that was both intricate and immersive.
The EP's opener, 'Aum', sets the tone for the rest of the album - a slow-burning exploration of textures and timbres that draws the listener in with its hypnotic rhythms and subtle atmosphere shifts. What I love about Saudalma is the way Doxnd Plazencia takes risks and pushes the boundaries of what's considered 'acceptable' in electronic music. He's not afraid to experiment with unconventional sounds and production techniques, resulting in something that's both challenging and rewarding to listen to.
