I don't think that the large number of members makes a clan strong or better. Look at EDH. (No offense, I love you Hash <3 )
I'm happy to see [MTX] rising up again, if they have had been around when [ARM] was dismissed, maybe I would have applied

I don't like the fact that they recruited Hitman though. That guy is a disaster.
There's a major problem in DXMP. When a clan is found by a decent/well known member of this community, people start rushing in that clan. The clan gets strong for a short period then dies after a couple months without doing anything remarkable like beating [REN] or releasing an epic map or mod. To list a couple clans like this: M3, FL, E, FFYL, Om, 17. I could add [ARM] to this list too but at least that clan lasted for 1,5 years with more than 8 members when dismissed

The administrations of these clans all made the same mistake. They recruited a few good players, then recruited many noobs in a very short period. Of course these clans got out of control and members got kicked, members left, forums were hacked, reputations were destroyed, clans died.
However this is a normal part of DXMP history because - as I said earlier - the number of players is not reduced by the death of their formal clans. They stick with DX then join another clan thus keeping the game alive
