Binds binds and more binds.
My big thing is, can anyone really play without them? O_O
Whenever I play, I often die vs anyone who uses them. Does this make me a bad player or noob? Nah, I just chose to actually use the gameplay more realistically. There is, in no way a method to line up a sniper scope and shoot it in the same move. As video games are an extension of our reality (virtually, anyways) I like to keep things as realistic as possible.
You know the binds I use? All two:
F= Activate All Augs
G= Deactivate All Augs
And when playing AltFire:
ScrollMouseWheelUp/Down = Altfire
(FYI best way to rapid fire assault shotgun, and if your lucky the game will glitch where you can rapid fire energy balls, vacuum bombs, and others, but I wouldn't use that against opponents because it is unfair, but fun when it happens for novelty value)
The whole argument of these binds comes from what people are getting out of the game. See, Deus Ex is separate from all games because STUPID PEOPLE CANNOT PLAY DX. When I try to get a friend who is a "gamer" to try DX, they run around like an idiot because they can't handle what is all going on at once. Stealth, the controls, and even the firing system alone is like another *loving* language to the average FPS'er.
But not DX. Even in multiplayer, where the game is simplified as much as possible, there is a lot going on. And that is why I like it. The challenge, the engagement. When you bind half of your controls to do several things at once that would realistically (even for the virtual world) not be possible, your taking all these shortcuts that reduces not only the game itself, but YOUR entire playing skills to that of a player of some shitty game like Halo, where the gameplay is so simple it insults MY intelligence.
So it boils down to: Are you here to have some real challenging fun? Or are you here so you can screenshot some godly score that is based NOT on your ability to properly navigate the controls but on your ability to JUST ONCE change a few lines of code that yes, let the MATH DO ALL THE WORK.
Not that I could trust any of you to this challenge, since this topic shows how much some of y'all actually care about your average score for this game, but I challenge ANYONE to use as minimal of binds as I do and defeat me. It can't be done. You guys have to have your precious scope/shoot combo or YOU WON'T WIN. THAT is what binds say to me.
I think the only way to play honorably (in my opinion, *love* off if this ain't you) is to swap ONLY 1 control for ONLY 1 key for hand/personalized comfort. Anytime you make one key do more than one thing, you are falling into noobery, because you cannot handle the game the way it was made. It is NO different than putting training wheels on a bike or gutter guards at the alley. YOU CANNOT PLAY AS WELL AS ME WITHOUT YOUR BINDS BECAUSE I AM NOT A BITCH. And I'm through.

playing zero augs allot.
I have that bind (TM)Meanstreak(BNino) wrote: There is, in no way a method to line up a sniper scope and shoot it in the same move. As video games are an extension of our reality (virtually, anyways) I like to keep things as realistic as possible.

I rarely if ever use it. Its bound to my middle mouse button.
This is really impractical. You WILL die allot for sure. Conserving Bio isMeanstreak(BNino) wrote: You know the binds I use? All two:

I guess a bind does have an equal sign but i'm unsure of the math part involvedMeanstreak(BNino) wrote: So it boils down to: Are you here to have some real challenging fun? in binding?
F=1+1 ?
The Ultimate Bind:
R=sqrt(543534534534534535353534534534534534534534534534534)

This contradictory because some controls are aliases for a set of commands. User.ini for more info.
To quote the file in "Help/ReadMeMPStrategy.htm" in your friendly Deus Ex install
directory.
As Follows:
Binding Function Keys
In Deus Ex Multiplayer, just as in the single player game, Augmentations are activated and deactivated using the function keys. Often, trying to reach for a function key while in the middle of a fire fight can be awkward. For frequently used or favorite augmentations we recommend binding a easier to reach key to one of the function keys in the 'Keyboard/Mouse' menu. For instance, the Aggressive Defense Augmentation is toggled on and off by the F9 key in Multiplayer. A user might decide to bind the F9 key to the letter 'a'. Pressing the 'a' key would activate (or deactivate) their Aggressive Defense.
I would suggest you read it since it is the DOCUMENTATION that CAME with the GAME.
Sometimes reading that may aid in playing. This was written by the poeple who made
DX. They seem to have no problem with binds because that is how the game was
intended originally to be played. Technically ATDM is the original Game Type.
Anything Else?

Technically, DX wasn't supposed to be an MP game at all and ATDM was the attempt to get DeusEx playable in MP in the first place... just like a prototype.

The only bind I ever used is the scope on the middle mouse button (in the key menu under options...)

then most poeple can handle. I like it for simple reason that its actually hard and
unbalanced allot of the time. It requires you to use adaptive technics on opponents
based on what you can tell they have for augs and skills. Point being there are
severe weaknesses and strong points. Use Them and know them.
Life is not fair, neither is ATDM!
Exploit an opponent based on conceived or known weaknesses. This is how you
play ATDM.

Just because it's "original" "innovative" and "varied", doesn't make it good. You won't convince me to like augs, so just don't bother trying.Hammer[HK]Time! wrote:"Being pretty crap" eh? Despite the fact it's far more original, innovative, and varied compared to most every other multiplayer?
