with 62 bit you can use up to 8 GB of RAM
I had 512mb of ram then because my dad worked for GTE and got free RAM whenever they were going to throw a computer away.
Why......

Re: Why......
Right.. on XP 32 bit it right shows just 3GB ram..
On Vista 32 bit, it shows 4GB but used memory is just 3GB as well..

Re: Why......
I've got 512 MB RAM now, I've got these Ram sticks god knows how much they are and god knows if they are compatible I was wandering if I installed them could they mess with my pc if they are not compatible?Kothar wrote:with 62 bit you can use up to 8 GB of RAM

Re: Why......
do they fit in the RAM slots?
if they fit they should work, and if it isn't compatible you will know when you turn your computer on. don't freak out if it beeps a few times and shows an error message, just switch the RAM back and no harm done.
if everything runs normal after you put the new RAM in go into your system to make sure that it is actually more than what you had before.

good luck having 62 bitKothar wrote:with 62 bit you can use up to 8 GB of RAM

MAX:
32 bit processor, 32 bit system = 3 GB (@ winxp, moar @ linux [as I've heard])
32 bit processor, 64 bit system = 8 GB
64 bit processor, 64 bit system = 128 GB (for example server racks, using 64bit Opterons with AMD64 instructions)
The best solution would be to install some PC hardware information software (for example CPU-z, google it), go to the "SPD" page, and check the info about it. you will have 1/2/3 or 4 slots there (depending on the mainboard).and god knows if they are compatible
Open info about one of them, write down the:
type (DDR, SDRAM, DDR2 etc.) and max bandwidth (PC 3200, PC2800 etc.). Manufacturer doesn't matter, get something like Corsair, or Kingston.
Then go online on Amazon, eBay or some sh.it like that and buy there. DON'T go to any IT stores, most of the people there are fuc.king idiots or they gonna rip you off.

Re: Why......
It will. Lots of people have 32bit Dual Cores/Quad @ 64bit systems. Checked, my m8 has a C2D 5200 and a 64 bit Vista.~][FGS][Nobody~ wrote:How's that supposed to work?Kuchcik wrote:32 bit processor, 64 bit system = 8 GB
