AVG/Avira is shite to be honest, to be honest you don't even need anti-virus these days, all you need is a decent internet security. Free metabolic end product just don't cut it. Even Norton's getting a good rap these days, well the 2010 internet security anyway.

Norton and just about every other premium AV is way to expensive (resource wise) and not even close to being worth the cost (money wise).
I prefer free Avira because it actually detects things AND doesn't cost anything.

They're not really resource heavy, but I wont disagree on the pricing, but I'm not cheap so I'll pay for it. Likes of Kasparsky and MacAfee are *loving* heavy these days but Norton's actually running on the SONAR behavior report technology, with idle scanning and Red/Green pulse updating. Nod32 is epic though, regardless.
