Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution
I noticed Osprey 10mm
Some references to Freemasonry, the anotomical guys, the mediavel book looked like persecution of the templars and the whitehouse style architecture etc...
Goldtooth liquer
yes medkits should not be so effective, just a little healing or postponement of death/unconsciousness.
I didn't mind having to go back a level to get a medkit etc, it was like a test of my memory etc, in fact I marvelled at the fact that you could go back a level.
DX3 seems tailored more for action, mech augs, regeneration etc, they want a faster pace.
I say nothing until I play it, although I would have preferred to see how JC escaped Area 51 and what happened next. If you played non-lethal, then some key characters would still be alive... guess we'll have to finish off the story ourselves.

Square Enix have never made anything like DX, and japanese games suck.
I guess Eidos was gonna murder it anyway, but I fear is Square Enix poke their nose in, this game will be even worse.

it's going to be third person, wake the *love* up.
it's definitely going to be metabolic end product unless some sort of miracle happens and a proper game studio is going to make DX3. which is not going to happen. we are going to get another bland third person shooter that is going to have this dumbass automatic health regen, cover system, checkpoint save system, automatic aim and fucked up aug system.
this isn't going to be like dx1, this isn't going to be an immersive, complex cRPG that made me forget what the *love* was I supposed to do in real life. why the hell do you think they've changed the name to something without numbers? so consolefags wouldn't get butthurt over not being able to play the previous games. "hurr durr awesome shooter almost like halo3 or modernwarfare2" I even doubt if it will even have any DX1/2 references. i'd be glad if we would even be able to make a choice during conversations.
there are no true games anymore. everything goes casual. everything that is not graspable by an average 13-year old Americunt can't to be placed in a modern videogame, including deep story, deep gameplay, pretty much deep anything. shallow all the *loving* way! you can pick up any modern mainstream game in the middle and not even pay attention to the damn plot.
also, about the trailer, they've apparently mixed up the Spanish people with Greek mythology. I somehow fail to see the point of that.

I believe Eidos Montreal know what they are doing with this game story wise. Graphics are obviously going to look good because many professionals are working on the engine. My only concerns are the gameplay mechanics. Why is there always a need for too much realism and explanations to things like medkits? People always say things like "hey it's not possible that you'll get yourself healed up in no time by just using a box marked with a red cross! automated healing ftw". It's a game and it doesn't have to be realistic. The damage/health system introduced in the first Deus Ex game has already been proven well functional so I don't believe that the developers should take a step backward and just change it to a simpler, automated healing or some shitty red bar like they did in DX2. With automated healing available to you every time, you would always have a clear solution to all of your problems; shooting your way in. When finishing Deus Ex for the first time, I remember being beaten up to near death so badly that going in guns blazing wasn't an option. Limited health forced me to look for other solutions to my problems, like backways and sneaking around enemies. Obviously I'm not going to do any sneaking around in DX3 when I have an unlimited supply of health with me all the time, that'd be just lame. But if the game forces me to look for other options by limiting my health for example, I am of course going to enjoy a challenge where shooting isn't an option.

That's actually a very good point.Sike wrote:really long post
Getting shot to metabolic end product in DX didn't really matter because you COULD go through most of the game without firing a bullet... It didn't force you to retreat to scavenge for medkits at all, it just forced you to think a little harder and find another way around the problem...

I heard that there's a game, I think it's Mass Effect where you can load your savegame from the first game to the second game so you have the same items and characters, only the game itself is better. Would be awesome for a DX sequel.ShadowRunner wrote:

Last time I heard DX3 was going to be a combo of both FPS and TPS, depending on whether you're using augs or guns or something like that, I'm not sure, but I definitely remember it was going to be a combo like that. TPS games are better on consoles, FPS are better on PC. Fact.
Edit; I also heard it wasn't going to come to console due to complexity but I see it differently on wikipedia if that's correct.

The game will be developed to all flatforms.

The Q&A on the Eidos forums say it so.
Alas, my dreams of a nintendo Wii version of DX is ruined.
EDIT:
Also, because the biomechanical systems are now just mechanical systems, and they predate JCD's enhancments, which pre-date Alex dentons enhancments, good things will happen!
Alex had a very modern style of augment which meant, although everyone could use augments, they could not consume alcohol as it caused interference with the bioaugmentations and in turn, drinking LOTS would hurt you LOTS with no other effects, instead of simply making vomit everywhere and be very drunk.
JCD could obviously handle his beer. He could unload an entire offlicense into his gut and still be standing... barely... in fact, beer made denton HEALTHIER.
By this reasoning, drinking copious ammounts should affect you as it would JCD more than it would Alex... of course you may lose the ability to inteface with your mechanical augments properly, but you should still be able to drink more and think less, this time round.
I suspect smoking 5 entire packs of cigarettes in under a few seconds will still cause suffocation, or at least heavy lung damage, though.

Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Since most of you don't speak german or didn't read the interview on GameStar I guess I have to say some words, eh?
Deus Ex : Human Revolution is developed by Eidos Montreal, NOT by Square Enix. Square Enix only makes the videos. And they're pretty good in such things. Square Enix won't interfere with Deus Ex : Human Revolution at all. So don't be nervous.
Adam won't be able to fly! The dream at the beginning only is a direct link to the relation between Deus Ex and the legend. The AIs in Deus Ex weren't named "Icarus" and "Deadalus" for nothing, you know?
Realism in games is overrated by far. It's the fun that matters, not the realism. Warren Spector wanted more realism in Deus Ex. But the other designers stopped him. And this was good! Don't rate realism over fun. Sure it's not very realistic to heal all your wounds just by using a medkit. But it'll be frustrating if you would have to go to a complete surgery. A bullet in your body would cause you pain 'til it's removed. A bullet in the leg and you couldn't move as fast as before. That's realistic. But no fun. Deus Ex allows you to take some damage into your legs 'til you can't use them anymore. In reality it would have been faster.
About the Auto-Healing option ...
I also think this is too much. To much focused on action. But if you remember ... Deus Ex wasn't a success. Deus Ex : Invisble War wasn't a success either, but it was sold much more. But Deus Ex : Invisble War went to far the fans of Deus Ex.
Eidos have to find a good balance of making money and making the games for the fans of Deus Ex now. Even Eidos knows that Deus Ex : Invisble War was an Epic Fail for all fans. Even Eidos doesn't want to be remembered on this game.
Deus Ex : Invisble War was a good game. At least it would have been, when there weren't the "Deus Ex" in it's name and it's attempt to be a successor of Deus Ex.
Would Deus Ex : Invisble War have just have been "Invisble War" noone would complain about it, right?
And the thing with "Proper Studio" ...
Eidos got all rights on Deus Ex. And they won't give it away that easily.
I read a post on YouTube where someone said he's always looking for "good games" from the past, 'cuz his computer is old. He said he didn't find Deus Ex for a while. The reason is pretty clear in his mind. Deus Ex wasn't a "good" game. It was a "legendy game".
I'm finishing my post with the following sentences ...
Deus Ex : Human Revolution doesn't intend to replace Deus Ex. It doesn't intend to be the BEST game ever made. It intends to be a worthy continue of the best game ever made - Deus Ex.
Even a remake of Deus Ex with better graphics couldn't replace the original Deus Ex. That's not possible.
