Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Okay let me explain some things for you retards who don't get how a medkit can do what it does.
First, you are assuming that the "medkit" is a standard first aid kit that we know, containing little more than band-aids and sanitizing wipes.
However, considering the game is 50 years in the future, several of them being with biomechtech leaving its mark on society, the medkits in DX are probably tailored to suit the needs of the new super-soldiers.
Take Gunther, for example. Jaime Reyes said, "I feel more like a mechanic than a doctor." Gunther wanted a skull gun and complained of taking bullets, and referred to his rusty old bones, implying that he certainly knows there is degradation with use. So you can assume that medkits would do less for them, and that is a key part of what defines their character. They know they are nothing more than a tank to be pushed in the line of fire until they take too many dents and go to the scrap heap.
Now, fast forwarding to the nanotechnology (key word), medkits could contain any number of small items that would help JC's nanobots not only block pain, increase his performance to compensate for injury, and completely repair or heal parts of his body.
Remember, nanotechnology allows for many incredible feats in theory. If a robotic computer of sorts that was small enough to affect matter on a molecular level and came in such an abundance ("The nanites can be programmed for exponential growth") then they could do virtually anything you wanted. They are limited only by their surrounding contents.
So, keeping in mind that nanobots SHOULD, based on general nanotechnology theories and the augmentations in game, at the very least be able to do the following:
- Increase JC's heartbeat, respiration, nerve impulse signal speeds, and overall metabolism to astronomical levels levels without risk of heart attacks, etc.
- Link together in a manner where they can form virtually any form (second skin, both external and internal, around any organ, part, or entirety of his body) for means of protecting his body
I would envision the nano-friendly medkits would have items like the following that could be ingested rapidly via mouth or applied to the skin:
I would imagine the medkit would contain the following:
- A decent amount of some sort of densely concentrated synthetic protein compound. This would supply the nanites with replacement protein for any wound.
- A high-dosage multivitamin supplement. Though the nanites could theoretically just make any compound they want be rearranging atomic structures, the supplements would provide key nutrition and a plethora of various ingredients for any fort of recreation or molecular synthesis that the nanites could use for any of their various functions.
- Methamphetamine for obvious reasons.
- Painkillers.
- Various antioxidants, anti-vemons, detoxes, herbal supplements and antibotics.
I mean, the nanites will do anything to keep the host alive basically. Though dying is an obvious part of the game, I bet if JC's head were to be severed from his body it wouldn't be beyond the limits of the nanites to simply multiply, form small factories in every brain cell that take oxygen and water from the air, and just rearrange molecular structers of any various particle into calories and then metabolize them for energy all while fighting off infection and keep him alive.
Maybe that technology just hadn't quite been reached. Perhaps DX 4 will be set after Invisible War, and they have perfected it to the point where we get to see heads living in jars.

Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Okay let me explain some things for you retard who doesn't get what a medkit actually contains. (even though it's probably like 50 years ahead of present time)
Those medkits didn't contain ANYTHING that could help the nanites in ANY way and you know why's that? Because you could find those medkits all around the world, starting from a dirty old toilet until a high-tech military base. Considering the number of "super soldiers" globally what money do you think a medkit like that would be worth? Hundreds of dollars perhaps thousands. And what for? To assume that one day a bionicman will find them when passing by Ton's Hotel? Those medkits are like defibrilators, they can be accessed at public places because noone knows when an old man's heart stops beating when watching football or a kid gets hit by a car.
Those medkits DO contain band-aids and sanitizing wipes and everything else a medkit contains today, only they would be more modern because they're 50 years ahead of us.
HOWEVER trust me if I say that DX game developers didn't spend much time thinking about that because they didn't have a reason to. As they said realism isn't always fun in a game.
Edit; TY for translation anihex, I'm glad that Square Enix doesn't have that much influence in DX3 developing as I previously thought.

Meanstreak's metabolic end product
The answer lies firmly in between these two answers.Chris' metabolic end product
It isn't TOO far into the future, but we aren't still living in the past.
The medkits will be similar but the ability to process and use the contents will be much greater.

Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Medkits still won't contain neccessities for augmented soldiers all over the world only to provide supply to the handful number of agents.
Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution
I highly doubt that. It was Invisible War that caused Ion Storm to go bankrupt.anihex wrote:I also think this is too much. To much focused on action. But if you remember ... Deus Ex wasn't a success. Deus Ex : Invisble War wasn't a success either, but it was sold much more. But Deus Ex : Invisble War went to far the fans of Deus Ex.

That's basically what I said smartypants :PJima B wrote: The medkits will be similar but the ability to process and use the contents will be much greater.

THEN WHY NOT SAY THAT DIRECTLY AFTER WHAT I SAID INSTEAD OF THREE POSTS LATER?~[FGS]SaSQuATcH~ wrote:That's basically what I said smartypants :PJima B wrote: The medkits will be similar but the ability to process and use the contents will be much greater.

And I know it is, half of what you say is correct, and half of what meanstreak said is correct.

where do you think I'm wrong then? :/
Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution
I do think you where a little quick to dismiss the futuristic medkits of the future.~[FGS]SaSQuATcH~ wrote:where do you think I'm wrong then? :/
They WILL contain new things.
New medicines, new painkillers, all sorts of new aspects.
Look at the following;
Also, JCD did not have regenerating health to begin with. He was required to advance and upgrade his augments. As the understanding of first aid and lifesaving measures has advanced, and the nature of public health risks has changed, the contents of first aid kits has changed to reflect prevailing understandings and conditions. For example, earlier US Federal specifications [9] [10] for first aid kits included incision/suction-type snakebite kits and mercurochrome antiseptic. As explained in the article on snakebite, this type of snakebite kit is no longer recommended. Mercurochrome is not approved by the US FDA due to concerns over mercury poisoning. Other examples include the CPR face shields and specific body-fluid barriers included in modern kits, to assist in CPR and to help prevent the spread of bloodborne pathogens such as HIV. Modern CPR not having been popularized until after 1960, and HIV not being recognized until 1983.
I don't see why JCD would use medkits yet Mr. Jensen gets the regeneration aug, in a much more complex mechanical form, when it's much more implausable and earlier in time.
Also, Grey death and the like, terrorist attacks and mechs will all influence the contents of medkits.
OR MAYBE THE MORPHENE SUIT WORKS AND JC JSUT CRACKED OPEN THE MEDKIT AND DRANK ALL DE MORPHENE AND IT MADED HIM HEALTHY YEAH

OK you obviously don't get me
Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution
I saw selling charts and interviews with the developers. DX:IW was sold much more than DX.Sike wrote:I highly doubt that. It was Invisible War that caused Ion Storm to go bankrupt.
But selling alone won't rescue a company. It's also a question of the costs you have to develope the game. I never said they earned alot money.
