SDK - VISTA?

Post by ShadowRunner »

I am using a laptop with vista for at least the next month, possibly longer.

I was rudely interrupted in running SDK (deus ex the "1 final" version) by messages telling me certain DLL files were missing.

Anyone shared this experience and has a fix/patch?

I'm unfamiliar with Vista but I know that you can make a separate partition for WinXP if your harddrive capacity is huge enough.

Actually, if you look at the shoutbox, I just announced that DJ fixed mine.

You can download the DLLs (just search em in google) and just add em to your deus ex's system folder. If you can't find them, I can send them to you over MSN if you drop me a message. Works fine for me.
Also, you're awesome for still using Unrealed1 like a pro. Unrealed2 sux

EDIT: actually I'll attatch the file that DJ gave me here. Remember, in ...Deusex\System folder
(had to zip it cos FGS haets .dll extentions)

SDK 1 is a lot less trouble imo. Sike swears by UEd2, tbh I couldnt be bothered to get my head around, I tend to stick to what I know.

That's awesome Jima, I am excited. Can't wait to map. I have 4 days off and not much work next week :D

Ah sorry

I downloaded MSVBVM50.dll

Re-installed SDK, now it says "RunTime Error, editor.dll not found.

That's odd. I appear to have mine, I'll upload that too.

UnrealEd2 is more stable and able to carry out more complex tasks and brushes, but base-level mapping such as entering values to alter brush size and assigning textures feels much more awkward in Ued2.
If you're missing any more I'll be happy to upload those too.

I've had the same problem, replacing the editor.dll should be the last step and it should work.

lol, my parents drove 200 miles once before they realized they had left me behind a seat in someone's house... one of those stories you hear in your teen's and are glad you don't remember...

OK well everything up and running now, working on 3 SG maps atm, Abydos/CMD one, Nexus and Skyline. The Abydos map is almost ready.

Thanks for all help.
