Rewatched 'Shoot 'em up' yesterday. Needed brainless entertainment.

Re: The last film you've watched?
Not quite a movie but i've started watching that Spartacus: Blood & Sand thing, its getting mixed reviews, i think its ok apart from the overly used blood/slomo combination

I watched the first season of that. It's softcore, nothing more. They shouldn't make more..

Re: The last film you've watched?
So I just finished watching "Visitor Q" by Takashi Miike. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290329/
The movie is about a contemporary Japanese family that displays many of the faults present in today's Japanese society. Father obsessed with his work, paying no attention to his family that is pretty much in ruins. Abusive son, prostitute daughter, heroin addicted mother.. but one day all of that is about to change as a stranger invites himself into their home.
It sounds nice and normal enough, and the movie has a LOT of funny scenes, but since we have to bear in mind that it IS a Miike movie, you better brace yourselves for scenes that include necrophilia, incest, lactation, metabolic end product, and of course we cant have a Miike movie without bouts of senseless violence.
If you can be above what we consider taboos and understand that it all is the by product of a dysfunctional family, then this movie is pure gold that will have you laughing quite often.

This guy has a fckn zen face on all the time, I want to give him a hug.

Watched "Sukiyaki Western Django" by Takashi Miike. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0906665/
An excellent movie up to the end. Its a western, basically, except just about all the actors are Japanese and its culture cuts into the western setting rather sharply at times. It has a gatling gun wielding indian crazy about Shakespeare, a sheriff who gets killed at least 4 times during the movie.. a lone gunman that rides into the hostile town, gunmaster granny, two clans fighting for the treasure in the small town.. it has it all. Oh and then it has Tarantino playing a skilled gunman.

The movie is in English, but that wont help you tremendously in understanding what is said. I managed though

Re: The last film you've watched?
Simons taking over the thread, step aside.
Just watched Miike's "Zebraman" (zeburaman).
Definitely the least strange movie Ive seen from him so far and we enjoyed it a lot. Its a superman movie of sorts except the hero transforms into a zebra and saves earth from the baddies who for some reason look kinda adorable.
Since Im not a fan of contemporary mecha / superman metabolic end product I felt really nostalgic watching it, remembering how I used to watch metabolic end product like Ultraman, Danger Mouse and those mars mice on bikes when I was little.
Probably going to watch the sequel tomorrow or sometime.

I'm downloading Kick Ass right now, lol. seems like good fun, action and funnieness in style similar to Boondock Saints I expect, only with superheroes.

Re: The last film you've watched?
Dead Air (2009). Not a bad movie.
