He is a cult classic indeed. His first hit, Are Friends Electric, dates back to 1979; a time when Johnny and the Self Abusers had evolved into Simple Minds and Dirk wore white sox.ShadowRunner wrote: Here we talk about webradio and music...
Gary Numan is a cult classic I guess. Was laughed at by some, worshipped by others... very 80's and punk-cyberish new wave I guess you'd call it.
The Sugababes used a track...
For me, I Die You Die represents Numan at his very best.
He has a good bio on Wiki.

Simple Minds was the first band I mentioned when I came to gravity-world.com.
Everyone knows them as a large stadium-rock band, but in fact in the early 80's they were early synth new-wavers, making music in Germany long before anyone heard on them on the radio in the UK. Their very earliest music was ahead of time I think and I didn't hear anything else like it until the 90's.

New Gold Dream brings back memories of their early stuff for me. I think they performed some tracks (inc. the title track) from this album at their "Live in the City of Light" concert in 1986.ShadowRunner wrote:Simple Minds was the first band I mentioned when I came to gravity-world.com.

Usura's dance hit "Open Your Mind" from the early 90s was based on New Gold Dream.
