August 26th or August 23rd if you are North American haxxor.

There are some signs that this game COULD be a boring shooter.

1. Conveniently placed arrows showing you the route.
2. Everything interactive when you enter a room is immediately highlighted orange. Looks incredibly disturbing.
3. Conveniently placed explosives right next to advancing enemies. Clues that appear on the main path, not through exploring.
4. Comment made by Press in interview with Mary de Marle, hinting that it's not like DX1, you won't be crouching much and getting clues from listening to the enemy talking to each other. This was a huge part of the immersion in DX1 demo that made you want to play the next NY levels...

5. That Japanese ninja blade stuff, skewering unsuspecting security guards and activists. Paul Denton would kill you himself.
6. EM seem to have discarded the non-lethal thing, using your brain as a USP or marketing tool.

This game wont be 1/4 as good as DX, this was true the moment the game was announced. :matrix:

The most epic fail in my eyes is a missing unreal engine.

Well interesting, because when they announced the game, it was "PC only"... now it's kinda "Console, and btw we are porting". Apparently the studio porting to PC is a terrible one. But I also heard they did a good job on other Eidos titles.

Trailers are good, one did win an award already. But watch the gameplay stuff, a lot of handholding.

Long walkthroughs, I suspect not. Map design these days appears to be corridor/cutscene/corridor/cutscene/corridor...

But then stuff like removing heads with sawn-offs, throwing turrets at the enemies, sounds very good, so I hold my breath.

It would be good to get IW and HR made in Unreal Engine, it would be completely unprofitable, but would totally rock.

Extremely modified though.

And I think Shadowrunner means unreal engine so it can be modded easily.

It's the same one that ported Project: Snowblind, which was a very good port.

Why would it be unprofitable? If I'm correct Epic Games takes around 900,000$ + a small percent of sales for the use of their well-documented, multi-platform and beautiful engine. Square Enix are cheap fucks though, and they use their own Crystal Engine, which they already used to make a medicore shooting game with a lady that has bigger breasts than a typical watermelon.

"toms toms bigga than a monsta" - Nicki Minaj - rofl.

Kuch I guess you are right... Minecraft has proved this.

On EM forums, using Unreal 1 is generally discouraged in a benevolent way by fans. The majority of modders seem to be planning UDK versions of HR and DX themes.

Crystal Engine - haha well Karl at Crystal D in Frisco was one of our very first followers, he's probably approachable by us. If I am successful in increasing current support from Eidos, I would try and carve a niche of "independent modders" and attempt to be involved in any Crystal D experiments. Nothing is impossible. Just building up a good case for it over time, showing good progression.
