this topic concerns the Bio Riffle. I remember the discussion on the Beretta vivetly and as I recall it was called easy to aim with, overpowered and had a too fast firing rate.
Well I have encountered similar problems with the Bio Riffle: this weapon has a HUGE clip, fast firing rate AND the bolts you fire (if they don't hit you immediatly) will explode after a certain amount of time, thus being able to kill your enemies after they killed you (how ridiculous is this?)

So what is the point of all this, if you don't change/take it away, your server will soon transform in a battleground filled with noobs firing at will leaving whole areas covered in green bolts, making it impossible for you to fight (i've seen this happen loads of times on the map hupupupup-Prodigy).

But then again, it is still your server, i'm only pointing this out to you guys.

AFAIK there was no biorifle in old Wunderland. It makes HUGE lag and reduces fps and gives too big advantage. I think we will get it removed, vote here.

I used to think it was ok, then I played Smuggler, it is far too powerful for the smaller maps at the very least, good thing now is that we the special rifle as a replacement, I would'nt miss the bio rifle if it went walkabouts.

Bio Rifle I do not see as a weapon, its a portable barrier/fence.
However on a small map like smuggler or prodigy, bio rifle and pulse rifle are not funny... bio rifle is permanent on DXMP_Spaceship, that is hejhuka's doing...

I can remove bio but not pulse on small maps, unless I remove pulse on all maps...
I would like to see bio rifle on maps where fps dont matter so much, just for fun, like grav rifle is currently on DXSG_Orbital...

EDIT: The thing is, 2 years it might have been fine to have Wunderland with a maplist only like DXMP_HangarStorage and DXSG_CMD_V1, but the community has been hit hard and I feel Wunderland needs maps that 1/3 players can enjoy... like Spaceship, Smuggler, Sector 33 etc... but I can see that creates some issues with altfire weps, especially pulse rifle and beretta.

Well when someone shoot with bio on me i run away and kill from rage.. i dont see a problem with that weapon. when u look, where u enemy shoot you can survive that battle without damage. when u poison..well 2 hits and ur death.. like crossbow only a little stronger but you have enoth time too put medkit out of your *loving* bag and eat that metabolic end product. well kill enemy from behind when he dont see you ore kill from rage. easy too kill ppl with bio ore bladelauncher...just a tip.. do it..realy...it works :-D

i agree although i am one of the noobs that use it on occasion (usually a last resort when iv been killed repeatedly by the same person who is camping in a awesome place but still...)

i think keep it and just let it be used (you have to have skill to hit with it)

one of the reasons spaceship gets voted is bio rifle.

We are lucky that most noobs dont realize bio rifle shoots instant explosions in altfire mode... at least altfire on bio rifle takes longer to recharge.

The problem with bio and pulse = they look good.

Listen, someone is always going to find something that seems to be more of an advantage but its really whatever a player's strong point is.

I highly recommend that you do not remove the biorifle. I agree it is a bit of an annoying weapon BUT it is among some of the weapons from the original Unreal arsenal and to get rid of it would really be removing alot of what we feel when we play TNAG.

Now the beretta was reasonable, that's not really a UT weapon. The grav rifle was reasonable because it was buggy. But the biorifle is a timed detonated weapon, so although it shoots rapidly, it gives you some time to get away.

If, however, you acheive a direct hit, you're pretty much fucked. But that just goes to show you the player weilding it knows what he's doing. So it's skill, not unfair advantage.

biorifle is a timed detonated weapon
only in normal mode, in altfire mode the balls explode on contact, but the weapon has a slower rate of fire.

atm, it is more likely I remove certain maps than certain weps.

What I notice, being piggy in the middle of these debates, is that no two people in the whole community agree entirely about every weapon, so it makes very cautious to take any action of any kind.

I will speak to Icho and dig into the past, and consult FGS and keep my mind open, but I agree that pulse and bio can be devastating, but also a direct hit is not so easy like beretta or shock rifle.

It saddens me that I removed beretta, something that is the FGS trademark and often the FGS weapon of choice, especially for older members... but I can see it is different from pulse and bio, and does remove skill from the equation. I killed a guy on spaceship yesterday, with terrible shooting, the worst kind, an entire clip into his feet... I eagerly await Alex's experiments with beretta to set it to single shot or reduce the damage. It would be nicer as single shot i think, then the wep is as Hejhuka made it still...

The bio giun can be sused to killteamamtes so it can be a pain, but apart from that I think its's fair game, you need a certain amouunt if skill touse uit effectively, for that reason i think it should stay, the pulse gun however, is perhaps second to the berreta ierm s of pverpoeweredness (is that a word? lol) bio is cool with me .
