Why do you still play DX?

I find myself asking this question since about one month ago...

The answer is:

1. I genuinely like some people who play Deus Ex.
2. I get off on designing DXSG secret bases. It's like half-life but cooler. The suspense of the empty powered-down secret base...
3. I like sitting in Area51 or Vandenberg, the gfx are funny, but it is amazingly real to me, I feel part of the story, about FEMA, NSF, humane decisions etc...wearing leather trousers and wasting paramilitaries...

Why do I ask this question?

I am not going to improve as a mapper or fighter, without putting serious hours and training into it...and I don't have the time to study unreal. Even mapping now, means I get rusty as a fighter and I need to fight for about 3 weeks each time after a mapping session, to be the best and kill everyone again. To be the best on Altfire I can do it easy, but I need to play it every day, I can't do that anymore...

Also the community is so small now, I don't see much point in spending so much time mapping, while when I go on a server, sometimes I have to wait several games now, before anyone joins and even then I rarely get a good game, either admin, or training someone, or maptesting or just tired etc.

Also I see a big drop in the level of play, last year being admin was easy. This year it has been shitty. Last year there was trouble on servers about once or twice a week, now it is like daily, or even every few hours...

Also it is just an endless losing battle, to try to get FGS to a standard it used to be. People are not being cool as admins, they are being stupid and uncool. I often think I have to take admin away from everyone until people stop being thick.

I barely have time to check forums and play a few games a week now.
And I wonder if I have time even for clan wars.
Also this clan has become very large.
I play DX because of the quality of people, but there is also a lot of blame and bad feeling in the community at the moment.

I can't see it improving or battles like 2005/2006/2007 happening again.

Has anyone actually played on [FGS] AG server yet?

I still play Deus Ex, 'cuz it's my first online game ever and I learned to like it .. just as it is ...
In addition I got some friends here. Tidus, Shadowrunner, Nobody .. just to count 3 of them.

Since I started in 2005 DXMP has changed a lot. GODZ dissapaired, Nobodys SG Server appaired and dissapaired again, Wunderland dissapaired then and I left DXMP for a while.
I think, as long as FGS exist and as long the Servers of FGS are on, I will be in DXMP.

I don't care about bs from other players too much.

Oh BTW: Yes, I played AG once and I got a streak of 10 (from the beginning on) :lol:

I see the point in wunderland or having one main clan server...

I dont see much point in SG server... it needs more slots and more players...

and unless someone is gonna run wunderland, I dont really have time for both

seems people would rather altfire than SG...

I wouldn't be to sure about AltFire ...
I joined SG several times, 'cuz AltFire was empty and on SG where players (around 6 or so)

yeah i see that many times.

i like Altfire alot and i'm kindda good in it

but its most of the time empty

exept for some maps liks [glow=blue]DXMP_ScoutzKnivez[/glow].

but in the SG server there are alot of ppl

and i kindda suck in auged and sg i'm still learning but i still suck :lol: :lol:

sow i hope i see ppl in altfire more often :P

Haha it's funny cos when I started playing DXMP I was about 14 and what I earned from this game was the English language. I joined {dxc} I browsed topics and posted on English speaking clan forums and by 2007 I could manage to be the most fluent English speaker in my class

My point is that I think I owe this community for this. I find helping my duty to those who deserve it (FGS). And by the way, I still enjoy playing Deus Ex. 8)
