[FGS] Otherworld Server - Discussion

Post by ShadowRunner »

IP: 109.70.149.13
Nom de guerre: [FGS]Otherworld
Slots: Currently 12
Maptime: 15 mins
Maps: Default and Custom

Rules:
1. Respect all players
2. Respect beginners

The priorities are SG, HR, CTF, AG/WW2, Science Fiction and aug or "DXMP" maps. Small maps are ok, but generally in most cases, I can not host maps without biocells or repairbots (unless like Cozmo RPG etc), or maps that don't allow use of tools and picks in the map.

Weps are likely to include default rifle, with clyzm assault weps and the odd tactical wep here and there too.

I'm undecided on skills, whether to make players use skills like in the SP game, or to max skills. Would like some views.

There will be lams, but I am hoping to run the RX remote grenade system.

Stage 1 2011 Currently the server will run normal DX.
Stage 2 2012 In future regen will be reduced and cloak will consume more energy. A test for HR mod.
Stage 3 2012 Human Revolution gametype.

It is expected to take up to 1 week to actually configure the server totally with all maps, weps etc.

Some of the weps that will be on the server.

I'm trying to figure the best way to keep default sniper and ensure no clyz or tac snipers are available. Also I wish to host most, but not M16 or M4, only Famas , G3, MP5, UMP etc type of weps. M4 would be hosted only on a few maps.
At the moment I'm adding individual weps to maps to vary maps.
G3 Silenced by Clyzm
Image
Pump Shotgun by Clyzm - will take an augger's head off up close
Image
DualMP5kFIX by Clyzm, this is not the Dual MP5's hosted by ZXC, but a later version

I don't have Code Zero weps, if anyone has a copy of them and the parachute, I will consider hosting the WW2 weps.

I think the shotgun and G36 work well as they are not overpowered in the slightest.

The next map up, I'll add G3, G3 silenced, UMP, Famas and MP5 and players can compare the combat rifles. I won't get any real time to use the CP much till the weekend.

I think Dust compliments Landerneau nicely, if you have your largest Dust, I'll host that and mapvote.
I like Pool too, it's different. Wasn't so excited about the zero aug conversions like Dressing room etc.
In fact I'll have to look to see what you have.

EDIT: As you can see I am being very fussy with the maplists, I haven't even hosted any of mine.

It looks like SG will take a while, dependencies nightmare atm, didn't keep a full list in 2007, and could be missing one or two textures even. According to [EMP] I am missing one texture for Abydos, but FGS had no problem hosting it.

Yeah but the FGS Altfire server has a ton of textures, musics and .u packages still in the relevent ftp folders, only the unused map files are in an unused folder and not their dependences as far as I know. This method saves alot of time for the person uploading new maps for instance.

Of course, but I still need to list all the dependencies for SG maps. Even without changing codes, can't really avoid custom textures with SG. What's confusing as well, is that early versions of texture packages still exist in my texture folder, with a similar but different name. I didn't originally imagine I would make so many SG maps or take a long break.

I'm wondering if it is the multitude that is the problem of altfire going down, similar to having too much SP .u files in your DX.

DXSG_CMD_V1 is up there on Otherworld atm.

I could dig up the texture files from Altfire FTP if you want to see if you have old versions, hit me up on msn anytime I'm on.

Altfire texture folder would be amazing, if it's not too huge. Relevant utx usually start "SR" "SG" or the name of the map.
I think all others are sound files, which I can remember.

It was interesting to see almost ten people on your new small map "Bound" and then the same number again at least on SG_CMD_V1, which is huge. And what else is odd, I don't have the usual riot for certain maps either.

I don't know where you got your SuperRocket_lite version from but the one that is hosted on your server is not the official one.
I'd appreciate it, if you used the official one from the attachment.

Thank you, thank you!

Since I have never touched your files, I can only assume that Atlantis or possibly even you have given me a wrong one or edited one. I don't think I've had any contact with anyone else in 2007 regarding SG files, although it's possible.

The thing is, I knew about this issue and before hosting this server, I downloaded DXSG_CMD_V1 with superrocket from here to be sure to have a official one, so I'm wondering how I mixed them up since then... I did open a couple of SG maps and work on them.

It's been driving me nuts, because I can not differentiate the files. I will sort this out immediately.
Will everyone who previously joined have mismatch? I hope not.

The SG-Model.utx (right name?) mismatch was fixed previously, with some help from Chris. Again I can not think why.
Thankfully I should now be able to delete every superrocket_lite I have and take this one and this problem is solved.

No. Usually not. Just if they decached it but that's their problem then.

Awesomeness Chin, with any luck Cozmo will get fixed before Sunday and a whole day can be dedicated to sorting this server out.

This is WW2Guns by Clyzm.

It's 67mb but the weps are lovely. There's an awesome US style grenade too.
I thought there was a german rifle and pistol too, it's either missing or I missed it in classes. I seem to remember didn't Clyzm do a "potato masher" stick grenade too?

As you can see it has its own custom set of ammo and clips for the weps. This makes for great deco in your WW2 weps.

FGS are going to be tinkering with WW2 maps...
