You mean unfair deal, cos DXMP is small and has all the DX assets, and UDK community is huge and supportive and needs it all?
Hmm good point. I just wondered if in future there are MP projects in Crystal or UDK that are professional, that having all DX editing communities networking is not a bad thing.
Bamborz is offering to host HR, so certainly I'm willing to help out.
Cheers, I doubt I will get involved with UDK unless some really worthwhile DX project happens that is not full of crap.
I wish Bambz luck, but from my experience with HR and coders, if he isn't a coder, he's going to have a big headache.
I think also he's going to have far more success AFTER release of Facetown, when Steve is far more likely to be willing to share the secrets and tricks and innovations of that project. Until then questions like "how to make cutscene in MP?" are hot potatoes. Same with TREM, I don't see Allan on every forum, telling everyone how to make puzzle games, until all these fab mods are released, secrets will remain secrets.
Nevertheless, good luck and maybe it could focus more on beginners and complete idiots like myself who want to learn some stuff.
Maybe a coding course for mappers would be good. Focused entirely on helping mappers bring their work to life.
So explain this to me; if it's a big secret how do the folks really learn it?
That's right. it's not a secret. If someone wants to learn it they should just extract their DeusEx code and look on stuff.
Obviously you can't expect another dedicated modders to just share their dream and ideas to another modification or publicly without finishing themselves.
Coders can be annoying when they try to map. Sharing other things is good. Face is the one coder who springs to mind, who produces better visuals than a lot of mappers.
Also in the real world, sharing is a good way of self-promotion, not to give away all secrets, but developing others is developing your own skill set too.
