I said something brief about a map in my initial post, but here is a bit more detailed of my plans with it. I wanna really go all out and make a fantastic map that should not only be good for altfire, but even 0 and all aug play. Here are some of my ideas, criticism more than welcome. I'll try to paint the picture best I can til I get some drawings or something made up.

Meanstreak's Compound

Area 51 size, height width and depth. The outer edge is fenced in, similar to a prison. One one side sits a large 2 story house (BlancoNino's) with a basement. The basement has a secret entrance that leads far underground to a bomb shelter of sorts, however in reality it is a hydroponic grow room for herb :D

Outside, a fairly large open area with trees and maybe even ditches, you know, something for good cover. On the side adjacent to where the house will be, in each corner, will be two guard towers complete with unlockable goodies and turret protection.

That's the big picture. I want to get creative with details though, and make lockpicks and multitools actually worth keeping. I will follow the theme of DX and offer several tunnels, ventilation shafts, and alternate entrances/exits to most of the areas.

Also, is it possible at all to have an NPC that does something on the map? I know conversations are disabled, but could there be some way to say, make so if you have "credits" than you can select certain items from a list or something to add the type of DX NPC who sells you gear? Cause that would be so sweet.

Also I want a few moving platforms like in Frequency.

That's all I can think of for now. Like I said when I get a more solid picture of what I'm doing I'll let y'all know.

Also, I am having some trouble with a few things. I have basic geometry down, and placing items and setting their... settings is no trouble, reminds me of visual basic. I am, however, having some issues with doors and room spacing. For example, how many units apart per room is ideal?

Once I get some help with that, I should be able to hit the ground running since I am jobless living at home at the moment, so I can pretty much pour at least two hours a day into this for the next month.

Wow, sounds good. Not sure about the whole NPC selling you gear thing, sounds a bit RPG (if you can even get that sort of thing to work). Don't forget to make a level info item and set its multiplayer value to True. ;)

Maayybee when i have MORE useless time, then i'll think about making a mod like NPC transfer with credits...

Pfft, saturday, a monthly test for me... SO HAVE TO STUDY, no moar coding.. *sad face*

lol. Don't try to take on a project as large as this one is. First, learn the mapping basics

1. Proper geometry
2. Lighting
3. Movers
4. Grid mapping

Well I am not saying this map will be the first thing done, but while I am learning everything I will be keeping this map of mine in mind, and all of my practices will eventually end up as the map.

Good advice of course Sike, I came to grips with that when I first tried this back in 04 when I was fifteen. Imma really hit it this week coming up. Maybe in a few weeks I'll at least have some screenshots of VERY LOW DETAIL geometry so y'all can at least get an idea of what I'm going for.

In a recent in-game conversation with Skil, I realized what I am going for will be more similar to Hitman's storage yard than area 51, but I am going for a size closer to area's.

Also I decided I want to put a few things similar to the airstrike from post. It would be cool to have more than one potential, I'm thinking like a radiation damage zone possible for the whole map, but in one building, poison gas flow that kills quickly? I wanna get really creative with this one because I feel most maps lack that. Many of the fgs maps are swell, not to knock y'all veterans.

But we can be having even more fun with this, and I'm down to try and bring it on.
