Re: MAP: Biggest map yet...
I used to love zone lighting, and I guess I'd still advice it for massive maps. However I find proper placement of light actors 1000x nicer. Then again, that's a hella lotta work and added filesize...
A really darkblue colour works well for zonelighting I think.

But be aware of too big areas with lights that got a large radius.. especially if they are very bright.chin.democ. wrote:Zone lighting would be a good way to cut down on map size I'd imagine, I'm experimenting with using one very bright light with a large radius instead of using several dimmer lights.
My experience says that the chance of a game-freeze dramatically increases in such areas.
Also.. the mapsize-increase when using much lights is marginal compared with the mapsize-increase when using complex and/or many small brushes (thus.. when having a big and detailed map)

Re: MAP: Biggest map yet...
that's why using both is good, zone lighting takes care of the twilight and actual lights represent artificial light. Zone lighting is horrible without mixing actual lights as well.

I love "summon DeusEx.Beam" and "admin set beam lightradius 255" though!
It's just that DX likes to crash on that at times.

Hey Rodie...
In my detroit map with Kalman, I have only used 3 lights outside and I think 1 inside. I made the zone lighting bright enough to not need lighting, only to be dark enough still to look a bit shadowy. Then I added a bunch of firebarrels to break up the zone lighting and made sure lights and zone light were different colour. I haven't used spotlights much though, need to learn more.

Hey guys.
Whilst not being new to DXMP I'm new to the FGS forums and I'm wondering where I can get my grubby paws on Shadow's gorgeous maps?? I always use alpha's archives for, well, everyting deus ex, but they lack some stuff e.g. maps.

Shinobi Hi, I pm'd you on Alpha before I saw this. It will take me time searching backup CD's for everything, but there are some maps in FGS downloads section and some on current hard drive.shinobi87 wrote:Hey guys.
